Not impressed with Fabricland (Canada) quilting cotton

My first large quilt was for my son and his bride nearly 20 years ago. This year my son handed over the quilt and asked for repairs as it's a favourite. The quilt was made with Fabricland fabric as I thought would be the best place to buy fabric. Much of it had literally worn through. Thankfully I still had pieces of the same fabric in my stash and was able to use it for repairs. I just cut squares, folded the edges and sewed them over top of the worn squares, not quite remaking the entire quilt. In another 20 years they can throw the quilt away.

And now we know why we have our stashes!

Hobby Lobby siting at Len's today!
First time I've seen HL here in Canada.
But of course, it fits with their job lot buys.
Soooo ... is HL generally a good quality fabric?
It seemed to have a pretty good weight, texture and finish.
But I know sometimes once washed, one can be disappointed.
Didn't matter ... I wanted a dark green tonal/blender.
This was down a step and reading too light for what I wanted/needed.
Almost gave in ... but had a little talk with myself to not go there, as I would be disappointed with the end result!

I parted ways with Fabricland when it was brought to my attention that they were inflating prices and then magnanimously offering the fabrics for a "sale" price as long as I gave them more money by buying a membership. The only way to access the alleged sale was to buy a membership. I now support Canadian businesses that offer legitimate sales from time to time.
As for Hobby Lobby they wouldn't get my business no matter how good the quality of their fabric. I don't care for their business practices. I acknowledge my privilege in being able to eschew bargains for principle.

Plus, soon after that, they closed down the two that were closest to me.
Maybe because shoppers in those two areas, thought like you and I, @JanieW ?
As for HL ... I know nothing of their business practices and such.
Have never set foot in a HL store, and never will, being that they are stateside.
Have only heard mentions of them here on QB!
So, I am somewhat in the dark about HL ...

Yes, @QuiltE our store also closed down. The reason given was they couldn't find a suitable location but that dog won't hunt.
As for HL I won't discuss it here. There's lots of info on the internet. It may be that their actions won't bother you as we all have our line in the sand.

And ITA with you about HL, I won't ever purchase their stuff. Same with MSQC.
