Do I want a rag quilt, do I want something like a DP9? I dont know but I like the modern look of the different sized blocks in different shades. Kinda like the Partridge Family bus paint job.......

So post some pics of yours or you favorite designs so I can get an idea as to what I am shooting for.

Here a couple that my MIL made for our son. She makes the lap quilts for all the GKids for their 3rd birthday. She made place mats for all the GKids also when my FIL past away from his jeans and square dancing shirts. There is also a napkin from the shirt fabric to match.

Oopps! Sorry it's sideways!

Watever pattern you choose, remember denim is very heavy and denim quilts are very, very heavy. So, don't make it too big, and give it to someone strong. My friendship group made a couple of these for charity quilts and we just sewed squares together, some with pockets with hankerchiefes poking out. We did not use batting but we did use fleece for the backing and they were a big hit.

I made this one using the link to a tutorial on this site. I always take gifts for my grandson when I see them, I will be flying on Friday to visit my son and his family.

I made two for my grandsons' beds but did the same thing. Just 8" squares and a flannel sheet for the batting, then another flannel sheet for the back. They're so heavy that flannel or another kind of sheet, or light blanket is best for backings.

The backs of these quilts are made with my sons' jeans and the fronts from their dress shirts. They were made for their fiancees'.
