That is why I won't buy one of those. I know I would slash it within the first week. Can you whip stitch it closed with a piece of seam a seam tucked under the slit?

Will a applique shape with heat and bond stick to it?

this is what i would do to repair it also. depending on the length of the gash. i've repaired many Oopsies this way. i slide a healthy sized chunk of bonding whatever inside the gash ..fusible side up. careful of tender finger tips, gently bring/hold the two edges together and pres gently tacking the fusible to inside of gash. after closed well, firmly press the whole as you would for doing a fusible quilting project. good luck!

Hi Pete,

When I use my mat I fold it in half so I can't slash the iron side or melt the cutting side. Or maybe turn it longways to cut if you want it flat. Thank you for the warning...I never thought about doing that.

I'll have to try these ideas. I did the same thing.

Is it feasible just to take a piece of fabric (scrap) and use fusible heat and bond or wonder under to fuse the new fabric over the gash?
