Thanks all! I will be trying another layout! I don't want two quilts LOL I see so many OBW with hexie cubes that I am bound and determined to find a layout that works!

Please keep posting comments / suggestions!

I find the cubes very distracting. Love the OBWs though.

Beautiful OBW. Personally, I would use only the 3 purple cubes and leave out the blue and green. That way you can show the cubes but not take away from the OBW but no matter what you decide to do it will be beautiful.

I,too, find the cubes distracting. I like the layout minus the cubes.

This is much better than the first layout. Suggestions: First, I would spread the blue cubes in a more linear fashion similar to how you have the other cubes. Then I would look at movement with the purples. They just seem to be clumped together. Don't really know where they should go, but they are too weighted in one area. Since you are running linear lines with the cubes, maybe dancing line(s) with the purples would continue the theme. Center them more and let them lead to the cubes or gently caress the cubes. Wish I had some color ink in my printer, I would print out your picture, then cut all the cubes apart and lay them out on paper.

Now, I need to get off my sewing butt and make one myself. I have some fabric that I think would make a beautiful OBW. If I can dig it out....I will post a picture and let all you gals and guys say yea or nay.

I really like the look of hexie cubes in an OBW, but I'm still not feeling the bright blue ones in the top right corner. I do like the way the green and purple ones seem to be a part of the entire design. You're doing a great job and I love that you're posting your progress!

Love this layout better! Can't wait to see the entire quilt.

Much better than the Y version.

I can see the point some of the others have made with regard to the mix of the OBW hexies and the cubes looking at odds with each other. Wondering ... how about using the OBW hexies only in the main quilt, slap on a wide border of black, and use the cubes in the corners of the borders?
