Whew!! Relieved that I'm not the only slow poke here! I get frustrated sometimes....I stupidly picked a king size for my first quilt and it's slow going! I do enjoy sewing, and piecing everything. I have 3 inch sashing that has been hard to line up correctly, and the other night I had to rip apart 8 squares and sashing that ending up being off by over an inch. But I'm back on track now and being MUCH more careful before just gaily sewing stuff together! Humbled me greatly!

I second that motion, there is so much talent out there, takes me like you, days to finish a pot holder and when I am thru it looks like a 3 yr old has done it. And like you I am exhausted. But I don't do it because I have talent, I do it for the pure joy of doing something, and its such a stress reliever. So I plug along. I can't and don't sew, I couldn't sew a straight line if I tried, I know thats important in piecing, and I can't sew a button on, but I still keep plugging away, I just have to think where I would be without the quilting and its not a pretty picture lol...

[quote=Renee110]I am exhausted mentally....I just started sewing and "quilting" 2 months ago...haven't done any quilting yet as I'm still piecing my top together....
And I've not used a sewing machine since homec class 25 years ago....
So of course I decided to make potholders and placemats for my barn customers.
ONE potholder took me 4 flipping hours to make. I feel like I've run a marathon or something. I'm exhausted.

Ok, so do the same one again. It will probably only take you half the time, and then do the same one again. You will get it down.
I still can't do a quilt top in 1 day, or even a week, but I love the quilting art. I have 3 seam rippers and they all get a work out. Relax and enjoy the material, the time for yourself. That is what it is all about.
