Default Opinions needed on quilting method.

What is your input, pro and con on the "Fun and Done" method of making a quilt? (I don't mean a Quilt as you Go method). Is it successful, not popular or am I just behind times.

I hated it. The design I chose needed seams to be matched block to block which was impossible with such a wide border seam. My sister, however, has made several (different pattern from mine) and loved it.

Just looked it up on the internet since I have never heard of it before. Looks like fun, especially if you want to use of a bunch of scraps.

I don't know how to explain it. There are several videos on utube under Fun and Done. Also enter it in search engine on internet. I am about to start putting together a simple lap quilt about 33 x 44 that is just squares -no piecing. Quilting will be very plain few lines across each sq. It should be a piece of cake to finish. Next I might make one using windmill blocks -which will involve piecing.
I have not made any quilts for over 20 years, so only simple with little quilting.

I made a fun and done quilt. I bought the templates. It was fun and done. Would do it again. Google fun and done for the "real" one. There are many versions of quilt as you go and all have fans and not fans.

I just looked it up. I had never heard of it before. It does look like fun. I will probably plan one for the future. I'm glad you brought it up, we really do learn something new every day!

I am signed up to take a 'Fun and Down' class on June 7th at Quilters Common in Wakefield, MA. By the way, there still are spots open. I have heard good and bad about it. If you are a good quilter, you probably won't have many problems. But, I heard if you are not an accurate and experienced quilter, you could have trouble keeping lattices straight. I'm hoping I won't have any problems. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
