    Default Opinions Please

I have this piece of grey background fabric which I would like to know if it looks okay under these black and white strips which will be appliqued on as they are (well straighter at least). Does the grey fabric look alright or do you think I should go for a tiny red/white dot fabric. I will be putting an inner border of red and then a border of the background fabric?

Opinions / comments / feedback would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping to use something from my stash instead of having to go shopping....but if I must off I will go

To be honest the grey does not allow the black and white strips to stand out. It makes it look dull in my opinion. Some form of white would be better. Sorry

I think it looks great, it enhances rather than dominates....are you thinking of adding a random spot of red within the strips? Just thinking it may add a bit of punch, particularly if there will be a border of red, then more of the background. Whatever you decide will be great....I love your fabrics and will keep watching to see what emerges

If you want it to bend go with it.
I have to agree with the above there is nothing that stands out...

I do like your curves.. they are interesting...

I agree with Annz, to me the grey seems to have a creamy undertone and it sort of looks dingy next to the white whites and the black. How big is the red/white dot? Could you post a photo of it?

Well your probably getting confused with so many opinions, but you asked. I like the gray if you add the punch of red it will look really good. I did a black and white with bright yellow and used a light gray for the alternate blocks and it looked really good. My friend who an artist told me not to, but I did it anyway because I had that fabric and a tight budget and I liked it. She was most surprised because it looked really good.

I think the red polka dot would help "liven it up". It would also tie in the red inner border. The strips look entirely black, white, and grey to me; I'm not seeing any red.

I like the grey. If you use a white background, some of your off white fabrics will look dingy.

I think it's perfect! I would go with it, I think the color will brighten up when you add the red inner border.

I love the black and white fabrics you've pieced together, but I tend to agree that the background doesn't set them off. I keep picturing a red background. It would show off the patterns, the curves, and really be eye-catching. You could do a think black binding?
