I added three more blocks ... and moved them around so that the "light" is coming from the center

OK, I've added the border (not yet sewn) and rearranged the blocks yet again LOL

Thoughts? I'm going to leave it for the night so people can comment ...

Looking great, Marion! I'd swap the blue & pink in the lower left quadrant - keep the larger blocks closer to the outside of the picture. I love the sense of movement you have here.

It's looking really great. The one tweak I suggest is that a few of the blocks have their lines perfectly vertical, and I think they might look better rotated a bit. The seemingly random placement enhances the sense of motion. The blocks are the little yellow one, the turquoise one and medium blue one.

I like Tartan's suggestion to use two layers of fabric with the light fabrics to prevent the black from shadowing through.

I think it's really funny that I mistook your pin heads for a design element in your quilt. LOL!

ok, I've studied all the photos. I like the latest the best. But I see just a little tweaking needed. I see it being too crowded together. I think if you move things out more so it appears more random & less symmetrical it would look better. The right side is too aligned, I'd move the orange one out further into the corner. On the left, I think I'd change the black fabric on the pink cube from a solid black to a print of some sort so it wouldn't disappear into the background. Upper left, I'd move one of those cubes closer to the corner. Other than that, I see you're having a lot of fun with this, please let us see the finished product!

How cool!! My pre-teen grandson would love that one. Apparently this is all appliqued? While I like the idea of no border, I'd probably put one on simply for ease of binding.

This is such a cool quilt - so creative! I love how members have commented and can't think of anything else to add. I love your last posted version.

I, too, was concerned about that black block being on the black background. Just switch it with a block that has lighter colors in it, like the green one right above it.
I make a hollow cube quilt and had it almost finished when I realized that my background would be black and I had a navy blue block right at the edge. It got switched!
