I read all the posts and am glad to see that all the people are having great success with their Ott lights. I am the exception, however. I have purchased 2 floor models in the past and neither one lasted a year. They are sealed so they can't be repaired. (Anyway, the ones I had were.) For the price, I just could not justify buying another considering my history with them.

My sewing area is dark so I have a desk model on my sewing table and I love it, I have a floor lamp that my husband needs to repair and then that one is going to be more on the side of my table so I have more uniform light. I have good eyes but the clean white light makes everything much easier. I bought one for my husband's use by his lazy boy, he loves it and doesn't complain about not being able to read anymore.

Ott bulbs can be bought to fit any regular light socket. Here is a chart: http://www.lightbulbsdirect.com/page...FWRk7AodXFAAQQ

I have one that mounts on my sewing cabinet and has a swing arm over my machine that can be adjusted-it is wonderful! I also have a smaller on that just sits on the desk that allows me to do handwork. I would like to purchase one that is a floor model to use when I sit in an easy chair to watch TV and do handwork at the same time. The Ott-Lites give good light that is comfortable for eyes (aging eyes in my case). They are worth their cost. I have not had to replace any bulbs yet.
