When I first started this thread, I tried to thank each person who provided a pattern or a link. I didn't think this link would mushroom as it did. So rather than fill up the link with my thank-you replies, I do want to say this:

Thanks to everyone who has posted or will post an easy pattern that looks complicated. Your generosity has given me and other readers a good place to get a feeling of artistic accomplishment as we hone our quilting skills.

I have created a file with a list of your pattern suggestions.

How funny - I just finished a Day/Night, a disappearing nine patch and just started a carpenter's star. How funny to see them all listed here. They were very easy patterns.
