Pellon vs. Heat and Bond Help Please!
Question for you all... A pattern that I am about to do calls for " Pellon 809 Décor Bond Firm" and I don't have any of that on hand. I have a lot of " Heat and Bond" and was wondering if I could use that instead and if so what strength do I use that is comparable? Thank you so much!

is the project one that will be sewn or not? there is a heat & bond light made for projects that are stitched- then there is a heavy weight heat & bond (like a vinyl) that is stiff and does not get sewn. that sounds like what you want- but not if you are going to be trying to sew through it- it will gum up the needle and is very very difficult to stitch through.

Decor Bond and Fast2Fuse are pretty much the same, good and sturdy, sewable but not the least bit floppy. Works well for fabric bowls (not the microwave kind, the decorative kind), so would work for bags, too.
I asked at my LQS one day if they had either one and, surprisingly enough, they did...hidden away in a closet. You might try asking, just in case yours sells it "by request only" like mine does.

Decor bond is very nice to use in bags. I think you would be unhappy with the result you'd get from heat and bond. (I like heat and bond...for other uses). You may just want to stop on your project till you can pick up the decor bond.
