Default Placement question

Here I am again asking for opinions on block placement for this comfort quilt. Also suggestions for color of sashing. This is a quilt I am making for a mother who just lost one of her sons. I have never met her but was friends with her son. Therefore, I don't know of color preferences, etc. Thanks for your input.

Great blocks and I like them without sashing! When I squint and look at the picture, I see a pattern with the darker blocks. I might try doing them light/dark/light/dark for a checkerboard effect and see how I like it.

In contrast ....
For my liking, they are just too spinny, dizzying and overwhelming with them the way they are.
Plus, that effect would be worse, once they are stitched together.

I would audition a sashing, using the same white background fabric and no cornerstones.
Or even alternating plain blocks ... you could have enough for a 2nd quilt by doing that!

How kind of you to make this for your friend's Mom.

I would use white sashing if I used any at all. I like it without the sashing.

I would for sure use sashing. I have motion sickness and things like pinwheels really set me off. You might consider putting groups of 4 blocks together and then sashing around them too.

Glad I wasn't the only one who saw this as just too spinny.
Nice set of blocks, but just too much, all together, IMHO ... and obviously yours too!

I like your blocks and I think that jokir44's suggestion of putting groups of 4 within sashing is a good one.

I would use white. Or even a pale grey may work. Nice blocks

I think it would look great with an "invisible" sashing of the same fabric as the background. That would separate the whirlygigs a bit without putting each in a box.

Prayers of comfort for that mom who lost her son. I can't even imagine losing one of mine...

This is a block that looks great without sashing. A bright border would frame it up nicely and you're all set. That is wonderful thing you are doing for this lady.
