I like just the green border, but would bind with the gold.

Sunnie 10-14-2012 02:36 PM

I did decide to go with the green only as Judythesewer and Luv Quilts & Cats swayed me. Once I backed away from the quilt the blocks really do stand out with only the green and since that is where all the "hard" work is I want it to show.
Thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions.

Just the green with green binding, is more pleasing to my eyes

IngeMK 10-14-2012 02:43 PM

what she said :)

Mamatron 10-14-2012 06:45 PM

It is nice either way but I am glad you went with the green border only. It is much more stunning that way.

maine ladybug 10-14-2012 07:10 PM

I like your decision. I would have done the same.

Maureen 10-14-2012 07:51 PM

Gold border yes, green binding no. Bind with the gold, beautiful BTW

Either way looks good to me. For me it would depend on if I wanted gold to be the main focus----depending on the rest of the room. The green outer border gives it a more generic color look.

janedee 10-14-2012 09:54 PM

I found that as well - but a lovely quilt and love your colour choice

I think I would have to look at it a few times too. I think I might like it with just the green border and then maybe binding it in the gold.

janedee 10-14-2012 09:56 PM

Oh just seen you have chosen to go with just the green - that will teach me to read all the posts!!!!

cjr 10-14-2012 10:54 PM

The gold border makes the whole quilt pop. Beautiful quilt.

earthwalker 10-14-2012 11:50 PM

My sentiments exactly!

I love it with the green border/binding. Beautiful colors!

Me too I thought the same thing when I saw the gold border.

Nantie 10-15-2012 02:28 AM

personally i like the gold border and would probably bind it in gold as well

Eliebelle 10-15-2012 03:09 AM

My vote goes to the gold border, and if you decide not to do that - green binding

I agree. In the first picture I notice the blocks first...in the second I notice mostly the gold border around the blocks. I vote for the first picture with just the green border. Its beautiful.

labtechkty 10-15-2012 03:46 AM

I like it either way as well...no help here...

Amythyst02 10-15-2012 03:54 AM

I thought it was pretty but then I saw it with the additional gold border and it just popped !! I love it with the gold border.

alfosa421 10-15-2012 04:02 AM

Love the gold border

ardnas 10-15-2012 04:16 AM

I think the gold border detracts the eye from the center where you've done beatiful work. I would go with the green border, only, and also bind in green.

MadP 10-15-2012 04:43 AM

I like the gold border added.

CharlottsQuilts 10-15-2012 04:45 AM

Love the gold, it really makes it pop, I would use the gold for the binding as well

rj.neihart 10-15-2012 04:45 AM

I would add it - makes it stand out more

bigsister63 10-15-2012 04:55 AM

#1- How big do you want the quilt to be. Adding the gold border will make the quilt several inches bigger. That said I think that it would look nice with a smaller green border (about 1/2 the width it is now) and then the wider gold border. If using the gold border then bind in gold. IMHO

glorcour 10-15-2012 05:03 AM

I like it stopped at the green border.

Mom3 10-15-2012 05:03 AM

I like just the green in the first example and would suggest binding in green also.

However, if you want it larger, then:

1. Do an 'insert flange' like the second example in post #9 here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...s-t203182.html

2. Follow up with another green border.

3. Bind w/green.

Shari

I agree. The outside gold border draws my eye away from the center and the beautiful work in each block. I'd leave it with the green border, with a green binding. You've done beautiful work!

Definitely use the gool bordeer. Looks gorgeous!!

kathbug 10-15-2012 05:27 AM

I prefer it with just the green boarder but I am not to keen on gold besides what do I know I am just a newbie anyhow. Love the quilt

cpcarolyn 10-15-2012 06:07 AM

Their both beautiful. With the green border the foces is on the blocks. With the Gold border the blocks fade
into the background and the foces is the gold. Just depends on what you want. I think I would just go with
the green border.

I thought the same thing. It would be pretty either way, but the gold border does seem to draw my eye away from the center of the quilt.

MamaD 10-15-2012 06:36 AM

I personally like the 2 borders with possibly a 3rd small (1" finished) blue border between the green and gold. Please post when you decide.

No to the second border. The design floats with just the green border...unless you need it to be a larger quilt. To me, it looks like too much of a good thing.

quiltmom04 10-15-2012 06:55 AM

I think just the green. The additional gold borders too overwhelming. Pretty quilt!

PenniF 10-15-2012 06:58 AM

I think the whole quilt "sparkles" more with the gold border added. Be sure to show us what you finally decide !

Delta 10-15-2012 07:02 AM

no on the gold outside border. to me it takes away for the wonderful blocks you made I love it with just the green. sweet job.

sunnymom 10-15-2012 07:12 AM

Very pretty quilt! I prefer the gold border added :)

I vote this way too!

matraina 10-15-2012 07:25 AM

I like the second gold border.
