I started my stash in 1998 with the advice and help of my mother. Was really slow until around 2004 then I went mad stocking up. My mother passed away around that time and I received her stash which dates back well into the 1980's or before. She would buy three yard pieces so I have a big stash of that. I only shop for fabric now when I need something to finish up or go with what I'm working on. I've been very fortunate.

Well------I have had fabric since the 8th grade when I started sewing. I would save every little thing. Then my grandma and aunts would give me fabric. I think it dates back to the 1970's; wowzersssss that's along time ago. Never thought about the age of my stash. Still have a dress my Mom made for me in grammer school is that considered my stash - was always going to cut it up but never did.

I have fabric in my stash from when I was nine and first started sewing so I guess some of my stash will be celebrating the big 50 next year. I did manage to use up a lot of really old stuff starting a couple of memory quilts for my sister and myself using fabric from "home". Now I just have to get them finished up for her birthday in December.

Mine's not too old. Probably 15 years. It's small but growing. I like shopping for fabric. :-)

My stash goes back to the 70s - still have some calicos from when Macy's in NYC had a fabric department.
