I am currently working on my Granddaughter a quilt. I have bought a lot of matching fabric quarters but found I needed a few more different pieces. So I dug down into my Stash box. I found that in my box I had fabric that I had used for items made for her Daddy. So now the quilt will have pieces of memories of past projects made for her daddy and Me. The "Trucks and Cars" was for a shirt, the "fishes" a jumper, the "hearts" was Valentine bags for a school party. The Lace was from my wedding dress her Great Grandma help sew for me and the "pink roses" was from my first quilt. We are talking about 30 years of keeping of my Stash.
So I was just wondering How old is your Stashes? Anna

Isn't it wonderful to have those memories in a quilt. I think that is one of many reasons I like scrappy quilts. They really are anything but scrappy!

My stash goes back about 12 years and then I have some vintage fabric which was a gift. Everything old is new again.
peace :D

Maybe we should have a birthday party for our stash... I think appropriate gifts would be fat quarters, and of course layer cakes!

I have fabric in my stash from 1993. Did a big destashing first of the year because so much of it was no longer my taste. I did keep a few of my favorites.

Some of the fabric in my stash is from my grandmother. She died when I was 8 and that was 54 years ago. I wash it and press it before I use it. I also give it some firm tugs to make sure it doesn't have any weak spots that might give with the use of the quilt. It should be good if it has been stored away from the sun, just as you would your new fabrics.

Small world. My grandparents were from Newark, Ark. My Cousin lives in Batesville. My grandmother also died when I was young. Her sister took her quilting items and I recieved a quilt and many stores of my grandmother's quilting bees but no fabrics.
