My stash is ageless--I once went to an auction and bought 19 boxes of fabric. It was all new and still in the packages that it was brought home from the store. The tabs ranged back to 1929-1954. found out the lady had worked in a 5&10 cent store that carried fabric. she would buy the fabric that went on sale in hopes when she retired she would be able to quilt all day. Found out she retired and a few months later passed away. Her sister inherited the fabric and had it in a closet for another 20 years. When sister passed there was an auction. Had I known that the fabric was all in excellent condition with no bugs or rodents having lived in it would have bought all "96" boxes sight unseen. As it was I ended up with 2,000+ yards of vintage fabrics. Had a fabric party for all my quilting buddies. I still have some of the pieces in my stash.

I have some fabric that is a little over 45 years old. Most of my stash is 10-30 years old. I really like to have memories and stories behind my quilts and I can tell my kids where I got the fabric and why and my grandkids have fun finding fabric I made their clothes from. I try not to buy much fabric. My goal is to sew up all my fabric before I die. However, I did add about 120 yards of quality quilt shop fabric to my stash this year because I stumbled across two 75% off closeout sales!

I just went threw mine and donated some things from the early 1960's. Did have to keep one piece my Mother gave me in 1965. Just couldn't give it away - YET. But, I have donated lots just to keep me 40 years current anyway. LOL

I have some bits of fabric from my mother and since I'm 59, it's old! That quilt you're making sounds wonderful. Please post photos!

I was always afraid to buy fabric on the garage sales but have started since the price of it has gone up so much. I still have some fabric from the 70's when I sewed for my kids but I don't think I will use any of it for the quilts because not sure if it is all cotton but my youngest daughter wants a denium quilt she is saving up jeans from everybody that she knows so maybe I can use some if it in there for deco & stuff. She even wants the pockets so maybe some for a hangkey or such. Love the ideas that I find on here.

I have some linen that was my Grandmother's. She died in 1960.

My stash is newer. Didn't start quilting until about 3 years ago.

I have some aprons my grandmother made and wore in the '50's that will be put in a quilt one day. And a poncho my sister made for one of our brothers in the '60's that is waiting for a future crazy quilt. I also have some vintage from other people that I don't know so I don't know about their age but from all appearances they are '60's/'70's. Only Grandma's aprons are older than me so nothing really old yet ;-)

My stash is still a teenager. I didn't start building a stash until 1998, even though I made plenty of quilts prior to that.

Mine is from way back in the 70's when they still sold fabric at the local hardware stores. Oh, they had such beautiful fabric and nice patterns back then! I remember the creak of the plank wood floors under your feet when you browsed through the sewing area. Brings back some great old memories - thanks for that!
