My daughter and I just saw that tonight while she was here! We were very impressed by the quilt and the value placed on it!

Interesting. I was wondering about the appraiser and his background and expertise. According to pbs.org, he is " one of the nation's foremost experts on Early American Furniture, American Decorative Arts and Folk Art." It would be fascinating to have it appraised by a certified quilt appraiser and see what, if any, difference it makes.

I thought it was interesting that he said it had never been washed. Did anyone else pick up on that?
|
Many antique quilts have not been washed......I think, actually, the value is higher if unwashed.........must remember......soap then was very harsh......and some well water can be nasty........at least to us nowadays
And like he said...colors might run.....and some still do! |
Why was the bottom row split? As it hung, it looked like 2 of the squares on the bottom row were not attached to the row above.
