Interesting. I was wondering about the appraiser and his background and expertise. According to pbs.org, he is " one of the nation's foremost experts on Early American Furniture, American Decorative Arts and Folk Art." It would be fascinating to have it appraised by a certified quilt appraiser and see what, if any, difference it makes.

Many antique quilts have not been washed......I think, actually, the value is higher if unwashed.........must remember......soap then was very harsh......and some well water can be nasty........at least to us nowadays
