Of course yo can do this with your non-scrapies too.

BUT - I line up all of the bobbins that have colors I am not using, are low on threads etc - and use them when putting together scrap quilt pieces. Uses them up and clears the way for other colors when I need to refill.

:) Julie

Haha I do that too and I have a bunch of thread spools that I use up don't care what colors they are either. Who is going to notice anyways. LOL

MoMiMi 06-04-2011 10:59 AM

I do this too.

JulieTN 06-04-2011 11:11 AM

Yes, any color thread works on scrappie quilts ... adds to charming idea of making a scrappy, doesn't it.

Smilies, Julie

I do this too and love how I feel when I've "cleaned up" my bobbins.

Me too. Who cares what color is underneath? Not me.

quiltpd 06-04-2011 01:36 PM

I do the same. Course then I start loading them up with thread again LOL

That's what I do too.

everbtrue 06-04-2011 02:28 PM

I used to buy discontinued colors just for this reason. After buying some CT thread packs, I'm afraid I will never run out of thread!

Bingo to Deanna! I use up all of my bobbins, and I don't care what I am making. I'm sure the quilts don't either. ;-)

That's how I clean out my thread rack of those spools with little left on them!

eparys 06-04-2011 03:33 PM

Excellent idea - thanks!

scraphq 06-04-2011 05:29 PM

Julie: I do the same. Never had anyone return a scrap quilt because the piecing thread didn't match!

Janet My 06-04-2011 06:11 PM

I use up my odd color bobbin thread when I practice my FMQ. I bind it.. (More practice) Then the practice sandwich gets used on my table for a hot mat for pots. When it gets soiled I wash it. If it falls apart I chuck it. No worries.

Of course I only use these practice pieces for every day. When company comes... I bring out the good stuff. LOL

sewnsewer2 06-04-2011 06:39 PM

Good idea, I never thought of that!
