I have the 6inch and use it all the time for PP blocks.

I have one and used it on my last paper piecing project, it made it easier than the couple I did before without one.

I am thinking of getting one - I hsve been using one of my Quilt in a Day rulers that is "clear to see through" with good clear 1/4 inch on it and that works good but I think the Add-A-Quarter has a nitch that butts up to the seam and is easier to place.

I have a clear acrylic one from Fons and Porter and it is for marking squares diagonally to make half squares, so 1/4 inch on each side of the ruler. Don't know if this helps.

I have two of these, both sizes...they work very well with paper piecing, although I have grab it to do other sewing related things with them...I like it and it is very useful, specially if you do a lot of pp.

For me, this is a necessity for paper piecing. It has a lip that allows you to precisely cut the quarter inch seam. I have both the 6" and the 12" and find I never use the bigger one.

Here's a picture: http://www.buy.com/prod/add-a-quarte...217369647.html It also comes in a 6 inch length, which might be easier to deal with depending on the blocks you're making. It's a fabulous little notion to have, and I use it ALL the time when I'm paper piecing. Nicely put! I have both the 6" and the 12" add-a-qtrs, and when paper piecing, my work comes out SOOOO much better, and my trimming is A-1. I went to a Carol Doak workshop without one and within 30 minutes bought the two I have. While other rulers/markers work well, I wanted to really hone my precision for foundation piecing. I wouldn't trade them or set them aside for anything else; although I don't FP all that often, when I do I know my work is precise. You can pp without it, but if your teacher is going to be using it in class for a new technique (to you), you're probably better off having it. I'm sure the shop sells it. |
Yes u do have one and use when i paper piece. Love it. Got mine from Connecting Threads

Yes I have one and it is a useful tool. I'm sure it's for paper-piecing . You could take your 12 inch ruler and see if that works. Otherwise maybe you could find a way to break it in half. It would be more manageable at only 6 I'm he's in length. Hey ladies anyone know how cut an acrylic ruler in half?

Sorry I should have said people not just ladies as there are men on our board as well.
