Good for you - I've only done stitch-in-the-ditch and I'm having trouble letting go of straight lines to do stippling. I'm going to do it though - I promised my new daughter-in-law and son placemats for their new house, so will practice on those first. As they say - practice, practice, practice.

I always get meandering and stippling mixed up.

stippling is the only quilting I've ever chosen when I pay to have my quilts quilted. I always seem drawn back to it when i look at other patterns..... unless of course it's a quilt by Charisma

I just wish I could stipple!

What is a "panto" - is this something done only on a long arm machine? Thanks.

It is just one of those things that I can't do. I have a friend who free hand micro stipples a lot of her quilts on her sewing machine. I can meander, and still lose my place sometimes, but I can not free hand stipple.

i just am adding the binding to a baby quilt that i made. i have only done a meandering loopdey-loop and am still very new to quilting. i decided i would branch out and i added something that sorta looks like a floppy flower?? hearts, stars, and stippling. and i came up with a conclusion. i can't stipple worth a hoot!! that is SO hard for me to do!! i end up with wavy-like lines instead of little fingers. i'll post pics when im done so ya'll can see what i managed to get done. its so not perfect but it was WAY out of my comfort zone! keep at it, you'll get it; the quilting class i took was worth its weight in gold for me!
