invest in a better one than i got. the idea is awesome!

I did the same thing! I agree - JUNK. Have been looking at the good ones on Sewing with Nancy online store but I bookmarked the link given here.....much better price. Thanks!

northern quilter 05-06-2011 05:14 PM

I have one and really like it. The light shines right down on the needle so I can see better.

garysgal 05-06-2011 06:34 PM

I have one and I love it! BUT check out HomeSew.com because they have them a lot cheaper.

Jannie 05-06-2011 06:34 PM

I have one & use it all the time. Make sure you get it in a good place or it won't be a help. (ask me how I know!)

I found two booklites at Costco for $15.00.(in one package) They have clips on them to clip to a book but I just clip one to the plastic table that is on my machine. Putting in new batteries makes them much brighter. They are also bendable.

Yes, the fishing light was mentioned before, but no details. I asked for some, as I have no clue what this is ... so would you please tell? And perhaps even, a picture?

Thank you!

I have a bendable light attached to my machine and I really do not know how i was able to sew without it. it is so bright and I would recommend to everyone. It was about $40.00, but it is supposed to work for around 100,000 hours, so I believe I will get my monies worth. go for it.

Thanks so much for this tip!!!!!!! I have needed a light, but didn't want to pay big bucks for one. I will be headed to WalMart in the morning!

nonnie60 05-06-2011 08:24 PM

I bought one from a small quilt shop paid a little more than 40.00, love the direct light that it shines but how does everyone keep it attached to their machine? The sticky square that came with it does NOT hold! It falls off after a few hrs!

vickimc 05-07-2011 04:45 AM

funny, I just got one. went on a sewing retreat and several of the gals had them. I checked it out good and came home and got one. love it. at night the spot where my machine is has so-so light. now it doesnt. yea!!! $40 is good. I paid $50 and thought it well worth it.

Mine is not a magnet .It has sticky tabes that hold it.

dlf0122quilting 05-07-2011 07:35 AM

I love mine, have two of them. They are on sale right now on www.sew4less.com for $24.99. I buy from them often and they are very reliable if anyone is interested. They are usually right at $50.00 in the LQS's.

Mine has the sticky square and it has held it solid, no problem.

So if your sticky has quit ... just purchase some more. Look for the sticky that has some foam on it, and also look for one that refers to it being super-sticky!

wraez 05-07-2011 01:29 PM

Yes I have it and love it!

Besides using it for sewing, I also use it to shine on my face to tweeze eyebrows and chinny chin chin hairs ... I keep a magnifying mirror nearby. Works great for seeing those frustrating hairs, LOL.

So mine gets double duty.

amtnquilter 05-07-2011 03:52 PM

I love the extra light but cannot keep it on my machine, did yours come with sticky square tabs to stick it on?
Kathy

Dee Dee 05-07-2011 05:23 PM

That is where I bought mine! It is the lowest price I've seen them. I LOVE mine. One of my favorite "notions."

I got one, too, but found it in the fishing department, if your store still has a fishing department :)

Would you also post a photo of this light? Thanks, Anne

Jeniver 05-08-2011 02:07 PM

I have a bendable light from Ikea that I could not do without. It was $39 but well worth it. When our Ikea opens in Denver, I shall look for the cheaper one.

janecat 05-08-2011 02:34 PM

Is this light at Amazon the same as the light from Quilting Warehouse?

http://www.amazon.com/DREAM-WORLD-IN...dp/B0018VDNEU/

amtnquilter 05-08-2011 02:38 PM

That is the light that I have. Tomorrow I will go to one of the few stores in my tiny town and try a command product to hold it on the sewing machine...
U paid a great price!
Kathy

No magnets. It has little plastic hooks that go on the back of the machine to hold the cord in place. Also a sticky tab where the light attach's to the top/front of the machine. If you have more than one machine you can buy the sticky tab part separately.

I have one and love it and would like to find that additional tab did you see it somewhere?

amtnquilter 05-08-2011 06:05 PM

I too would like to know about the tab, the sticky to hold it on my sewing machine did not hold and used every one of the tiny sticky squares still after 2 days slid off of the top or side tried both places.

Thanks for the info. I just ordered one from quilters warehouse and an extra sticky tab for my other machine. The light is 24.99. I did check on line at Walmart and their price is $45.00 for this light.

amtnquilter 05-09-2011 02:57 PM

Just bought the Command strips hope these hold that tiny light on!
No Joanns sad to say anywhere near me so won't look at that light!
KK

GwenH 05-09-2011 03:02 PM

Yea, I had trouble with some of my little sticky holders too. Still have a couple of them hanging on one of my machines. I do love the light though!! It's great for taking to guild or sewing places that don't have very good lighting!

ns 05-10-2011 04:22 AM

A friend of mine who is also a quilter, bought the light and she loves it. It attaches right to the machine by the needle. I have not got one yet, but may.

vschieve 05-10-2011 07:25 AM

So what is the cureall for making it stay if the strips don't hold? Command Strips were mentioned; are they sold separately elsewhere? Not familiar with them so what are they initially used for? I want the light but don't want to order until I know all details.
Thanks!

amtnquilter 05-11-2011 12:35 PM

I agree, I do find after putting the Command sticky things on that if when I am thru for the day if I take the stress off by winding the stretch wire thingy on the top of the machine. It rests there and does not hang as when it is on and being used.. Does that make any sense????

JUNEC 05-11-2011 12:39 PM

I love my Ott Light - goose neck works great
