I use the Creative Grid the most.

Just recently purchased a 12" square creative grid because I HATE my "Quilt in a Day" 12" ruler - USELESS!!

My LQS lady pointed a few things out for me that I didn't notice on first inspection ....

Numbering can be positioned so that the numbers go left to right OR right to left!
Has numbering in 1" increments on two adjoining sides, and 1/2 increments on the other two adjoining sides
Numbers in 1" increments are in WHITE
Numbers in 1/2" increments are in BLACK
The edges on the 1" increment side has 1/4" frosted
The edges on the 1/2" increment side has 1/2" frosted
both 1" and 1/2" increments labeled on the center diagonal (in either white or black)
all squares have 1/8 hash marks
lots of grippers on the bottom

The LQS lady told me that some of these features were new.

I LOVE this ruler!! I will make a point of buying more CG in all the sizes I need/use.

I use th cutting mat to measure so my cuts are accurate. I also prefer rulers with yellow and black lines. In addition, my super long ruler 6.5x24 has the .5 inch shaded which makes cutting the binding really fast and easy.

Creative Grids are my choice. Use to have all Omni, but am gradually replacing them, as I noticed that my "older eyes" were sometimes having a hard time reading them. :)

Look at the different brands on actual fabric, see which appeals to you more. Some have different colors of lines, etc. and your eyes will probably like one brand over the other - then just start collecting them

I started two years ago with several different brands of rulers. During one of my quilt classes, my seams were not matching up and that's when my instructor told me she believes it best to use one brand of rulers. She recommended Kaye England rulers. I went to her website and bought a set ofall her rulers. I put Invsagrip on the back of the ones I use the most so they don't slide. Now my seams usually match up just fine.

I started out with this kind of ruler and it really did help me when I first started cutting. Creative Grids is now my favorite ruler, although I do have two Omingrips, I don't like them as much.

I've got a lot of Omnigrid rulers which I like (yellow, not green). But, I'm going to try the Creative Grid.

I have a wonder ruler that helps. It has a ridge that my rotary cutter rests on so it doesn't wander off. I also plan on getting the shape ruler that has slots to cut in so the strips are more accurate

Before deciding check out the TrueCut rulers. There is a lip on the edge of the ruler. The guide on their cutter rides on the lip and makes for accurate cutting because there are no slips with the rotary cutter. DH does most of my citing and he likes them, too.
