I am fine with all the ideas so far. I have no problem with the Paypal idea as I have an account too

ElizabethAīs suggestion is good as we donīt want you paying too much, it can work out expensive.

Keep them coming.

Should we tell which blocks we are doing so there are no duplicates?

I bought my fabrics today!!! :D :D

mrsj82 09-21-2008 04:33 PM

I was going to buy my fabrics today too...but I didn't make it to the Joann Fabrics before it closed. I'll have to do it tomorrow...I can't wait to get started on it!

Brazen 09-21-2008 04:48 PM

LOL! We're fast. :D If we do these blocks now, getting our swap blocks next March will seem like a windfall! hehe

mrsj82 09-22-2008 06:59 AM

I got my material today too! It's so pretty! I almost want to cut and sew my blocks today instead of finishing the quilt top that I'm working on! LOL

shellyp 09-22-2008 07:16 AM

You girls are so funny. I was going to buy mine yesterday too. But I thought 'oh, noone else is going to start this early, i can wait'. How WRONG was I?!?!?! I could just kick myself now.

mrsj82 09-22-2008 07:32 AM

There's still time today to get in with the early birds! lol we catch the best worms you know!

bj 09-22-2008 07:36 AM

I've narrowed my star choice down to 3...I'm so excited!

Butterflyspain 09-22-2008 08:40 AM

I have a few blue fabrics but none that I really like, soooo I will have to get some at our Club tomorrow.

Have we got a date when we can start?

I have managed to narrow my choice down and have chosen a star which I think will be good. Is simple but looks intricate.... NOW that is my kind of star.

Elle

Brazen 09-22-2008 10:06 AM

I have the fabric but no star. hehehe I looked through Quilter's Cache but am afraid that lots of people use that site and I want to do a star no one else does. :D LOL!

Butterflyspain 09-22-2008 10:15 AM

Brazen, I picked from quilters cache and that was my thought to. Hopefully no one will have my star. In any case they wonīt have my spanish fabric. LOL

Have you tried Carol Doaks site. She has a number of stars on there.

Elle

Brazen 09-22-2008 10:19 AM

No, I haven't, but I'll go look now! I wish I could paper piece! LOL

mary quite contrary 09-22-2008 10:21 AM

Carol Doak is where I got the pattern for my center block for my round robin. I found the pattern easy to work with.

Butterflyspain 09-22-2008 10:47 AM

Awe Brazen, sorry, I didnīt think.

Elle

Butterflyspain 09-22-2008 10:48 AM

Brazen, have you looked a the Tutorial section on the Main Page here.

They have a paper piecing guide. Go for it girl, you can do it.

Elle

Butterflyspain 09-22-2008 12:41 PM

Brazen, here is a site that might appeal to you or anyone else who is searching for a star pattern and doesnīt papr piece.

http://mccallsquilting.com/qb/

There are some really lovely patterns there.

Good luck

A question: Does the block pattern have to have "Star" in the name of it? I've seen some block patterns that have the "star" effect, though their names don't include "star". I have plenty of "Star" patterns to chose from, so it's not a big deal ... just wondering. Thanks!

jstitch 09-22-2008 06:59 PM

No, I dont care what it is called, just that it looks like a star....

Rules are pretty broad on this one...

sandpat 09-23-2008 05:33 AM

Oh, you early birds!!!!! You are making me feel like I'm falling behind, but the weather is nice here...have to get ALL the fields bushhogged before winter...DARN IT!!! At least I have sewing class on Sat. and will be looking for the fabric then

QuiltQueen 09-23-2008 05:42 AM

I would like to sign up for this block exchange! Please add me to your list. What is the address where we send the block to? Let me know. Thanks

Elle,

start when ever you want The only requirement is that they reach me by March 1. I will mail them back out by March 15.. So any that arrive late will be returned...

Ill send PMs to everyone with my address and probably a reminder when we get a little closer to the due date. In the mean time, have fun sewing..one set, or two even..

gcathie 09-23-2008 10:50 PM

I would like to join too....sounds like fun....

Quilting Aggi 09-24-2008 06:14 AM

I love blue and white blocks! I made a blue and white star sampler many years ago, but sold it. It was the very first quilt I sold and it went to France!!!

Now I want another blue and white star quilt. COUNT ME IN!!! Since I have a queen size bed, I will probably send in two sets!!!

I have a pile of blues and whites and home in my stash. I will go through them this weekend and pull some favourites. I'll put it off to the side then when the time comes I'll make them up. I will do some star searching soon too!!!!

Cheers!

SaraSewing 09-24-2008 08:53 AM

Question: Is it possible to NOT get back one of my own blocks? If I send 12 (or 2 sets), can I get 12 or 14 different ones. Is any one else of that desire?

Elizabeth A. 09-24-2008 09:30 AM

Sara~ Where did little Grace go? :)

I am sorry, but,

with this many participants, it will be difficult to do this for one or two people.

I will PM you all with my address when we get a little closer to the deadline. I want to wait until we have everone in that wants to join, so that I dont have to try to figure out who I PMd and who I didnt.

So, Everyone, Please check the list and make sure if you want to join that I have you in the list. I have tried to keep up, but I can and do make mistakes.

Thank you all for joining in on this exchange. I am very excited to be working on this with you.

jstitch 09-29-2008 03:11 PM

bumping this to the top...for those who wanted to join this, please check the list and let me know if you are NOT on the list...

sorry if I missed you,

ddrobins1956 09-30-2008 06:56 AM

Hi, I want to join in also. I just have one question, and I'm sorry if someone has already asked. I did not read all the posts.
Do all the star blocks that we make to swap have to be of the same pattern? Or can we mix up the patterns? Thanks

bj 09-30-2008 07:08 AM

ddrobins...unless there was a post I missed in there somewhere that says different, I think they are supposed to all be the same. I guess that makes it easier for jstitch to group them and hand them back out to people. Did you see that you can do 12 or 24? If you send 24, you get 24 back. They're supposed to be finished and ready to mail to her by March 1.

You make 12 identical blocks and send them to me.
I will return one of yours and 11 different ones,
so you will end up with a sampler of blocks

You may do one or two sets..ie 12 of one pattern and 12 of another pattern.
