The other day I finished a baby quilt and layed it aside to quilt and bind it,it took me two days to find it and it was right in front of me,literily right in front of me.It was sitting on top of some other fabric and I actually moved it aside to look for it.(only on this board would I admit this)

grumpy90650 02-13-2011 06:02 PM

yes, i always seems i spend more time looking for some fabric than actually sewing it all together...no matter how i organized - color, theme, etc - i still lose things.....but i am convinced it goes with the territory!!!....happy searching..errr i mean quilting!! gina

angelamarcos 02-13-2011 06:13 PM

I don't think it happened to me with fabric, at least not so often. But I lost a pair of Ginghers, the small ones. And a few days ago, I looked for my measuring tape for hours, I mean hours, back and forth, like a lion in a cage. I found it eventually, but I was just going nuts. Is this a cognitive impairment?

Pitty Pat 02-13-2011 07:07 PM

welcome.

I wrote down this one from the board not too long ago.l Might
give it a try. Find My Fabric.com

ontheriver 02-13-2011 07:21 PM

I do that all the time. I think my fabric rearranges itself at night while I'm sleeping. I know the scraps multiply.

sewer 55 02-13-2011 07:34 PM

All the time. I always think I know right where a particular piece of fabric is that I want to use. Of course, that is not the case! I don't know how many times I have torn up the whole room looking for something only to find it was right under my nose.

1screech 02-13-2011 07:46 PM

Everyday of my life, I am looking for something!

Oh YES! But, in midst of searching find WONDERFUL things forgot all about. Like discovering treasure! Bet begins more inspiration than any other method.

wraez 02-13-2011 08:29 PM

all the time, if it isn't fabric it is something else.

some friends say that it is probably 12-18 inches from where you are standing, just under something else. They are usually accurate too!

BeckiQuilts 02-13-2011 08:31 PM

Just this week, while folding some laundry, there were two small pieces of pink calico . I forgotten that I washed them to get ready for mayber a Sunbonnet Sue! Now I will think about SS again!

pdcakm 02-13-2011 08:38 PM

yes, this happens especially after i try to organize or put away things. can't remember where i put them. very frustrating.

cheryl rearick 02-13-2011 08:44 PM

no I do not have enough for it to get lost lol... Hope you fine it.:)

Pat G 02-13-2011 09:10 PM

I do this with patterns. I have so many free ones from the internet that I can't keep up & put them organized into notebooks. So when I need a particular pattern, it's quite a hunt.

karate lady 02-13-2011 09:31 PM

I have a whole stack of squares I did up and put away during the holidays as grandson was coming to use guest room. No where to be found so far..

quiltergirl80 02-13-2011 09:50 PM

All of the time! That's why I've been de-stashing :0)

jajudd24 02-13-2011 09:50 PM

I can be looking straight at something I am looking for and not see it....I go in circles for hours....lol

purplefiend 02-13-2011 10:08 PM

frequently!

sewbizgirl 02-13-2011 10:58 PM

Couldn't find my brand new swivel cutting mat tonight. Used it once and now it's lost! Probably will find it under some pile of fabrics.

froggy 02-14-2011 12:15 AM

katigirl 02-14-2011 12:35 AM

yes. You can swear you looked in a place 6 times and when you finally find it it is right there where you know you looked before. I think the quilt fairies have it and are now laughing at you with the fun they are having. lol.

debbieoh 02-14-2011 06:27 AM

All the time. I end up going out and buying something else only to find the fabric once I get home. LOL!!!!

does this ever happen to anyone else here?

I looked for two days for a misplaced quilt block--it was stuck on my lampshade.

ljgraham 02-14-2011 09:07 AM

Its in the same place where we lost our flashlight that disapeared 2 months ago. If I find it i'll let you know.

davidwent 02-14-2011 09:12 AM

I love to hide stuff from my wife! LOL

vschieve 02-14-2011 09:21 AM

Yes it was happening to me over and over...and still does but have been working on that because it frustrates me to no end.

Finally I made a rule of thumb with ALL things and that is before putting away, I ask myself, OK, where would I look FIRST for this item? Because after a while you have this idea of where the most logical place you would have put it. I have found that rule has worked about 85% of the time.

stitchofclass2 02-14-2011 11:36 AM

Oh, my! Just watched your slide show. There just aren't enough ooohs and aaahs left in me to adequately cover all of your beautiful items. The designs, the workmanship, the talent, the kids, the photography. Oh! It is just too overwhelming. Your work is outstanding and that word does not even begin to cover how I really feel about it. I am so totally in awe of you. I love the babies and the children. I am 72 and I want to make one of those again. LOL. Thank you for sharing. Yolanda Wood River

SuzyQ 02-14-2011 11:39 AM

If you are anything like me, you probably put it in a very specific safe place .... now remembering the "safe" place is another story  Good luck! The only good thing is you will get to play with all the wonderful fabric in your stash while you are looking for it. My sewing stuff is the only thing I don't mind cleaning up.

bobquilt3 02-14-2011 01:00 PM

Let's not confine it to a piece of fabric in the sewing room. Thats the story of my life. <grin>

jeanneb52 02-14-2011 01:46 PM

ALLLL the time. In fact I had a BOM going and I KNOW Ihad the first two block kits in my sewing room but couldn't find them. I searched for three months then finally gave up and bought the two missing blocks again. I know they will turn up someday. I only hope I'm alive to see it!

purplefiend 02-14-2011 02:04 PM

I've started writing myself notes and leaving them on the magnetic clip on the file cabinet, then hopefully I can remember where I put important stuff......

nativetexan 02-14-2011 02:05 PM

yep, i've got full time gremlins!!

JUNEC 02-14-2011 06:20 PM

Unfortunately it doesn't just happen with fabric - please let's not talk about my cell phone - I swear that my husband has to call me at least every other day so I can find my phone - Oh well -

kriscraft99 02-14-2011 06:21 PM

I wish I could "call" the remote to our television - it is always getting misplaced.

Not with fabric but I couldn't find my pincushion this morning and it was next to my hand.
