I cannot find a piece of fabric that I know is in my sewing room - either it is staring right back at me and I'm over looking it or it got folded up inside another piece :(

does this ever happen to anyone else here?

erstan947 02-12-2011 03:44 PM

daily:)

Stitchnripper 02-12-2011 03:44 PM

All the time. Was on a hunt just today.

craftybear 02-12-2011 03:44 PM

yes, happens to me all the time

Cyn 02-12-2011 03:45 PM

Yes and I have usually moved on and lost the desire to use that piece of fabric when I do find it :) Murphy's Law Rules Here!

lauriejo 02-12-2011 03:45 PM

Oh yeah, been there done that! Were you looking for your fabric for the ugly scrap challenge?

Sapphire_Rae 02-12-2011 03:48 PM

It's not the one I bought, is it? No, you can't have it back. lol!!

CloverPatch 02-12-2011 03:50 PM

Yep tore up my stash day before yesterday, Looked all over my room couldn't find it. Finally gave up and went to use a color from a new bunch I just bought. Wouldn't you know it, there it was with the new fabric. I had forgotten I put them together to compare. Sheeesh Im getting old!

Patty Patches 02-12-2011 03:57 PM

Lost a blue fabric I was going to use in Dgs policeman quilt.I had it out and changed my mind on color, used a different one.I didn;t like how it turned out so my friend mr.ripper went to work, took it completely apart then went to find original blue.Turned my house upside down,no blue ,looked for two days, finally gave up and bought more blue.I know that I;ll find it now that I dont need it. lol

Char 02-12-2011 04:00 PM

No! Never!!! :? :? :?

LovinMySoldier 02-12-2011 04:02 PM

Did this a couple of weeks ago. Looked everywhere. Through everything. Got made gave up. Went to Joanns and they still had some so I bought the 2 yards I needed. I found the fabric 2 days ago LOL. Sitting there plain as day on the shelf with my other fabrics. Hope you find it :)

frugalfabrics 02-12-2011 04:04 PM

There are time when I take a picture of the fabric...and then 5 minutes later, I have no idea where it's at!

If it weren't for the picture, I think I might start to question myself whether I really have it or not.

sylvia77 02-12-2011 04:05 PM

All the time!

natalieg 02-12-2011 04:05 PM

Everytime I walk into the sewing room!

Marion Jean 02-12-2011 04:07 PM

I have been searching for the pieces for a little wool purse I was working on. I had completed all the embroidery and beading work on the front half, selected lining fabric, bought cording for straps - now the purse pieces are missing. I've been going through my sewing room for the past 2 weeks and just cannot find it. So frustrating

mzmama 02-12-2011 04:10 PM

yes, I call him Bob. Bob is a little imp that comes in and hides things. You know what you were using was just right there. Where could it be, Bob moved it. He will bring it back sooner or later. Darn that Bob.

burnsk 02-12-2011 04:13 PM

Now you know that it's going to be in the last place you look !!! LOL

Golly Day, my mom said that all the time and drove us kids NUTS. We would get so mad, "we already looked there 3 times its still not there!"

pumpkinpatchquilter 02-12-2011 04:18 PM

Yes! I bought a collection of five fabrics about a year ago and have gone by them several times in my stash while picking fabrics for other quilts. Now I want to get them out and use them - and three of the five are missing! How the heck does this stuff happen? Lol*

Julie in NM 02-12-2011 04:21 PM

I will not admit to losing fab in my stash. I know someone comes in and rearranges it when I'm either sleeping or at work. And when I find this person, they are going to refold all my stash and store it NICELY!!!

LucyInTheSky 02-12-2011 04:23 PM

Yup. Usually once I buy more, the initial piece shows back up, sitting in the very front of the closet. Selective vision, I guess :D

Blue Bell 02-12-2011 04:25 PM

It happens all the time.

Carron 02-12-2011 04:26 PM

When this happens to me I start a hunt for something else and the item I first wanted usually makes an appearence.

kriscraft99 02-12-2011 04:26 PM

no LOL this is a gorgeous horse fabric by Alexander Henry that I was planning to use for a horse themed birthday party chenille bib.. The bib must ship on Monday - sooooooooooo.... the hunt is still going..

Sure do, not just fabric, but books, patterns, notions too. Amazing how they show up the after you figure out something different!

katier825 02-12-2011 04:48 PM

Yes, still looking for 4 yds of Kona Premium Muslin I bought.

SueDor 02-12-2011 05:06 PM

Rule of the day, stop looking. It will come out as soon as you stop looking.

quilter1943 02-12-2011 05:10 PM

Absolutely. I have a couple of squares of stone fabric that I need for steps and I just know it's there somewhere. I just set the quilt top aside and when it shows up, I'll finish it.

frugalfabrics 02-12-2011 05:13 PM

I usually try and clear my mind while I'm laying in bed...and then it comes to me...so then I have to get out of bed just to double check to see if I was right!

brenda21 02-12-2011 05:26 PM

check the dogs, the cats, the kids and the hubby in that order. haha

wolph33 02-12-2011 05:32 PM

lol more often than I want to admit too

Debbie C 02-12-2011 05:33 PM

you are definitely not alone - I know I have a box of violets and ivy on cream background - just where it is at the moment is a mystery!!

cmputerdazed 02-12-2011 05:40 PM

Not just with fabric. somedays it is the story of my life.

Izaquilter 02-12-2011 05:43 PM

ok long story. My dearest friend died & when she died I got to finish like 3 or 4 of her quilts. I had the quilt all done & had enough fabric to do the pillow cases, so I thought. There was one rust colored fabric that I needed to do the piping. I tore my room apart repeatedly. Went to all the quilt shops within a 50 mile radius at least 3 times each thinking I would find it. Each time, coming back home & looking thru the bag that all her fabric for that quilt was in hoping to run across it. So I decided it would be my main goal in Paducah to find this fabric. Easy, right? NOT. still could not match it up. When I came home from Paducah, opened my sewing room door to put all my purchases in there, what was on the floor right as you walk in the door! I FREAKED, screamed for DH to come in there & look (he helped me look too) I SWEAR tears started streaming down my cheeks & I could not believe this. To this day I said she came to visit me or was here the whole time! After she died, I withdrew, didn't want to go any where, didn't want to quilt, nothing. So I think this was HER way of getting me out of the house. Searching for fabric! Not the first time I'd been visited by a ghost!

Debbie C 02-12-2011 05:47 PM

absolutely believe you - my grandma said she'd leave me pennies. I find them all around - even after I've tidied up, knowing they were not there before.

LivelyLady 02-12-2011 05:52 PM

Yes...and it's frustrating :(

Moon Holiday 02-12-2011 05:53 PM

Too many times to count.

Tink's Mom 02-12-2011 06:13 PM

all the time...I think I can probably blame the dog...she did it...

littlehud 02-12-2011 07:32 PM

I lost the fabric I bought for my SIL bowling quilt. I finally bought some different fabric and found the original 6 months later in my closet. I'm still wondering why I put it there.

CarrieAnne 02-12-2011 07:54 PM

Me, too, and its always right in front of me!
