New shaving brushes also work for those very small openings. As pointed out, small hands are needed to use with these small brushes.

The best dust collector is a pipe cleaner. It can go int those little places that the brush cannot.

Get a straw and, with some tape (duct works great), create a "nozzle" for your vacuum, then use this to clean, you want to suck the dust bunnies, not blow them in deeper. I told my Bernina store about this (I read this in an online forum) and they loved the idea.

and a new toothbrush or makeup brush also will work in place of a "official" lint brush.

OMG!!! I just went to a class on learning how to use my new BabyLoc machine and the instructor started out by showing us how to clean our machine. She "highly recommended" using the canned air!! Showed us how to blow it in sideways so no dust would get into the machine parts. Don't think I will listen to her now since so many quilters on the board are vehemently against it. Even bought a can before I left but haven't opened it yet.Canned air is expensive!! $15.00 a can, but I thought that since she recommended it I would try it. I am definitely going to try to return it next week.
Am I a real "BAD" student for not listening to teacher???

One thing I found that works great are pipe cleaners. They get back into the smallest areas and the dust just clings to them. Have fun!

I bought a sall vacuum for computers and it works fine on my sewing machine. I also use q-tips-they seem to work fine.

I have an Elna 7300. I take the whole thing apart and blow it out with a small air compresser I bought at Harbor Freight.
Dust it and oil it and put it back together.
In between large cleaning I use a small vac to suck it out.

I use extra new make-up type brushes. Soft and small.

When I bought my Bernina the dealer said to use Q-tips.

Long craft pipe cleaners with the end bent back a bout an inch and crimped down.
It is amazing how many glops of fuzz they fish out of places hard to see.
