You know those little plastic sticks with foam on each end that we ladies use to apply eyeshadow? Well those little things are the best for cleaning the lint out from all around the bobbin area (after the bobbin has been removed :=) )
So I use that first. After using that, I sometimes go over again with my brush, and then to top it all off, I use my little vacuum. Those pieces of lint are pesky little things! I do this every time I have to change the bobbin. |
I bought a boar's hair paint brush from Michaels. They have several sizes and they work perfectly.

My cleaning kit has a brush, which I gaurd like my life. My Mom one time lost hers, so she just got a toothbrush from her stash of daily needs and used that. It worked fine.
My tech guy said to use the canned air, and it really does a superb job! Mariah |
I used some makeup brushes, and they work better because they have longer handles and I have big hands.

A pastry brush works very well

I use my brush but pipe cleaners are good too. Don't use a vacuum as the static electricity can damage your machine. Aside from a quick daily brush out of my bobbin cases, at least once a month I take the whole thing apart. You'd be amazed at what gets in there. And I am always amazed at how much smoother they run after I do it. A real PITA getting those screws back in, but worth it!

I use a cheap 1" paint brush.

Don't blow - vacuum (draw the dust bunnies out). I bought a set of tools that fit on my vacuum cleaner called "Tool-Micro Att Set" It is great and cleans the smallest areas. My sewing repair shop said that blowing sometimes forces dust even deeper into areas instead of removing it.

I have a tiny vacuum attachment group which works well but after vacuuming I use a soft brush as well as the one that came with the machine.
