The rest of the fabrics are relatively light, and having the dark around them would make the center pop out and "sparkle."

Any type of pieced border, I think, would be too busy, and would compete with the subtle pattern of the blocks. It's busy enough (in a good way), and a busy border would just take away from it.

I agree with this, I think the dark border would really set the center off.

I love 'your' reinvention!!! You might add a solid border around your sewn together blocks, then use some of your leftovers to make half square triangles with another solid.....just thinking. But the solid border would separte the two from each other.

Love your version - it almost has a prism look to it.

And your colors are a very pretty selection - how many different fabrics did you use in this?
