This is great nance-ell. It looks kinda like the tube pattern tutorial, but you took the D9P to create the design. I agree to use borders to pick up a few colors in the quilt. Please post once this is finished.

I would add one small border and then a larger border. It is a lovely quilt and a great idea.

I love the finished squares...but I guess I don't understand what you did....You did a 9 patch...cut that into quarters, turned and sewed...then how did you cut that square???

If you put your blocks on point, they'll straighten out. Also, I wouldn't do sashing because it will break up part of the design, imo.

Just wanted to say "thanks" for putting up the tutorial. It made everything so much clearer. Adding this quilt to the ever growing list of "things to do someday" but I think I'm going to have to live until 100 or learn to quilt a whole lot faster!

What a great idea! I don't think I'd have the nerve to just slice into the blocks like that. It really adds interest to see the secondary design appear. You might lose that if you sashed it or put it on point. I think a couple of borders would bring it up to around 60 in. Do you need it to be larger than that? Great job!
