I found some fabric that kinda goes with a Dresdan that I bought already done.

Do they make this fabric without the sparkles - I really dont like the texture of this fabric.

If not I am open to suggestions for this dresdan.

Thanks cheryl

pic showing fabric with sparkles - doesnt exactly match but would probabably work for sashing

I am so sorry you don't like the sparkle in the butterfly fabric 'cause I personally think it is perfect.

sharon b 07-04-2011 12:37 PM

I have only seen it with the sparkles- sorry. But I agree the sparkle goives it an extra "pop" for the centers

mmonohon 07-04-2011 12:40 PM

The sparkles are fun. Could you use a sparkly thread to attach the plates to the fabric to make it seem intentional?

Ramona Byrd 07-04-2011 12:43 PM

Those colors match nicely. I like them.

Did you use a special template for that butterfly? It looks like
it was made for just that one butterfly.

I myself save plastic lids and cut them into whatever shape I want. Since they have no markings on them they work nicely. I would like to find sets of different sizes, it would make it easier when I'm frustrated and ruin every lid I cut!!

QuiltnNan 07-04-2011 12:43 PM

i love the fussy cut for the centers. pretty colors.

sweet 07-04-2011 12:49 PM

I really like it! Hope you go for it!

I LOVE it..and I love the way it looks for the dresden..

Tartan 07-04-2011 12:57 PM

Wow! That fabric you found is PERFECT! I would just go with it sparkles and all because I don't think you'll find anything that matches as well. Good find!

ldrussell 07-04-2011 12:59 PM

I love it, go for it!!!!!!!!!!

jdreamblue 07-04-2011 01:06 PM

Right now I just have the fabric layed under the dresdan lol
I have a GO cutter so thats what I thought I might try if the die is the right size. I have some creative memories cutting templates I have thought about trying - I havent tried it yet though - I think I also have a curcular cutter for scrapbooking made by fiskars - will have to play around with it though. I am just not real fond of the texture of fabric with the sparkles - has anyone sewed with it before?

The greens dont match but its the closest thing I have found so far!!! Would rather have a smaller floral print but I havent found any that has all the colors!!!

Thanks for input thus far - I appreciate it.

The butterfly fabric is a great match to your plates. And the fussy cut butterfly is adorable... Go for it!

sueisallaboutquilts 07-04-2011 01:47 PM

As much as I'm not into sparkles I think that one is adorable! :D Keep us posted.

maryb119 07-04-2011 01:48 PM

I love the butterfly center. The colors are perfect together.

SuziBoutique 07-04-2011 01:53 PM

I am not a sparkly type of person, but I think that fabric is perfect. I liked the idea of adding some sparkly thread to tie it in. Either way, I love the colors.

blueangel 07-04-2011 02:08 PM

I really like it.

luckylindy333 07-04-2011 02:12 PM

I love sparkles and think you found the perfect fabric! Maybe you could wash the fabric a couple of times on the harshest washing cycle on your washing machine and dim them a little?

Cosy 07-04-2011 02:19 PM

Oh, how beautiful!! the sparkles are really really nice, will really set it all off. Love the fussy cut center. Especially if you use the different colored butterflies in the different blocks, then use the same fabric for sashing and or borders.

createfourpaws 07-04-2011 02:23 PM

I have worked with this fabric, i washed several times and it got softer and dulled the sparkles. Give it a try.

The fabric is perfect for your Dresden.

Linda71 07-04-2011 02:54 PM

Love it

DogHouseMom 07-04-2011 03:02 PM

Have you pre-washed the butterfly fabric yet? If not, you might like the texture more after you wash it.

I love the quilt BTW!! That butterfly fabric is perfect.

Does the doctor sell fabric? Sorry, I couldn't resist.

cny_sewer39 07-04-2011 04:40 PM

The butterflies look great for the fussy cut centers. Then use it for sashing or even for the binding... I love the dresden block & the sparkly butterfly fabric.

bgullett 07-04-2011 04:47 PM

I love it too. Beautiful colors.

alikat110 07-04-2011 11:02 PM

I actually like it!!!

Lindsey 07-04-2011 11:26 PM

I should think that it would lose some of the sparkle after its washed also. It looks to match perfectly colorwise.

mcdaniel023 07-05-2011 03:11 AM

It looks perfect. That would sure give it a wow factor.

jitkaau 07-05-2011 03:25 AM

If you don't like it then I suggest you don't use it as you will remain unhappy. However, I personally like it as it gives a lift to the rather soft colours in the Dresden designs that you are trying to match and it gives it a bit of 'oomph'.

Yes I agree sparkles for me to.

smagruder 07-05-2011 03:37 AM

I just made two pillow cases out of this material for little girls.... they are soo cute. I am thinking that the sparkle will eventually wash out..... right>

stnele 07-05-2011 03:46 AM

Experiment-try ironing with a pressing cloth and a hot iron You might decide that you like the sparkles...fabric changes...looks like Joanns fabric

GrannieAnnie 07-05-2011 03:50 AM

I've got a question about sparkly fabric---------this came up the other day when I was making some pillowcases for a charity event. I know the sparkles come off. I've had them everywhere! But what are the chances of getting the sparkles in your eye if sleeping on a pillowcase with sparkles?

I ended up changing out my sparkly fabric for some non sparkly, just in case.

Homespun 07-05-2011 03:53 AM

I made a quilt with that fabric--love it. I like how it looks.

barbo117 07-05-2011 04:13 AM

I love the sparkles too, just adorable. It would be totally different and unique. Would love to see the finished quilt either way.

Drew 07-05-2011 04:18 AM

I have found it without sparkles at JoAnn's. But, most of the butterfly fabric had sparkles.

Jennifer22206 07-05-2011 04:21 AM

I've made a lot with the sparkle fabric, and it softens up a lot when you wash it. Sometimes you'll lose a little of the sparkle. It's really a gorgeous match, I hope you use it!

Tinabodina 07-05-2011 04:22 AM

I think it is absolutely perfect the way it is!

quiltymom 07-05-2011 04:29 AM

Yes I have gotten the butterfly without sparkles at JoAnns I make baby quilts with it.
