I don't keep my drink next to my machine. I have my sewing area set up in a U shape with SM in the middle. My drink sits on my right hand table, along with all my supplies.
Coffee or iced tea only...
I have a soda or water by my sewing desk most of the time, but they usually get warm as I'm so wrapped up in my quilting I forget to drink! Maybe for some, wine would go down quicker...but I don't even drink wine! :)
Not during the day..But sometimes in the evening a glass of wine makes it so much fun. I have a group of other quilter friends that we get together to quilt and drink wine. Have lots of fun.
Always have my caffeine free diet coke with me. But I am one of the few, it appears, that does have a glass of white wine while I'm sewing. They generally last a long time though because I'm too into what I'm working on. Like everyone else, I keep my drink on a different table than my machines or computer.

Sybil  |
I am a home-brewed sweet-tea-aholic... southern style. It goes where I go but it does not set near my fabric or Elna.
Myquilting buds have suggested a glass of wine before fmq to relax the hands but it didn't work for me. LOL

Billy :-D |
I always have water, or green tea or diet pop, and I put it FAR away from where I am sewing.
ummm. Maybe Billy is drinking Long Island iced teas, but mine are just good old SWEET tea.

Sometimes a glass of red wine is a very good thing.
Yes, I do. Coffee. But I do not have it on my sewing table.
Great question! A drink within reach, ALWAYS! Not an alcoholic drinker but love diet coke. Anything in a can I either set it away from my sewing but on same table or in a stable based, wide mug. Bottles, I always put the cap back on... too tippable! Water is in a large based tall cup and again, away from the machine or on the table next to me. I have had accidents and they aren't fun to clean up since they take away time from the computer and/or sewing. :D :D :D
I have been known to have a glass of vino before I start sewing, never when I am cutting!
Only diet soda or tea. I can't sew a straight line sober yet/still.
I generally drink coffee while I sew, but as I was raised in Brooklyn NY, and talk with my arms gesticulating, I keep it on a table far away from my fabric and my sewing machine (also my computer).
have you tried the cheater glasses they sell at bi-mart and walmart among other stores? My optomitrist said it is okay to use them
I only have either coffee or ice water or fago peach close by to drink don't drink much alcohol.
A glass or two (smoetimes 3 lol) of wine when machine quilting is always a must. I get so nervous before i start, helps me calm down.
I drink watered down Crystal Light Peach tea and have it on a coaster near my sewing table. I 'drink' something all day long...bad as it sounds it is never alcoholic...and keeps me from being thirsty.
If it is morning time coffee sits with me while I sew. I generally have water or diet mountain lightning.
cpffee, green tea, diet Coke, diet Dr. Pepper, water. Always nearby.
I uaually have only water, I love iced tea but it gets to watery before I remember it is there. I keep my drink on a table away from everything so I had to get up to get it. I am a cluts and would be sure to spill it on something if it was close. I couldn't drink alcohol, I have a hard enough time getting things right as it is.
Alway have coffee with me in the morning and iced coffee in the afternoon. DH built a little shelf onto my sewing table to hold my drink, he knows that I knock them over so atleast they are now safe.
I found a great solution for my sewing room. Creative Memories has a cup holder that has a screw clamp to hook it to the table. Not only does it hold a large beverage glass, it also has a scrap bag hooked on it. It runs about 15.00 but is worth not having to worry about tipping something over on my work area.

I drink diet coke, water or tea when sewing..

In the past I have always had to have a drink of something ( not alcoholic ) nearby when doing anything or nothing. That was when I was a smoker ! Eventually got smart and stopped smoking. Best thing I ever did. Nowhere near as thirsty now. Maye 3 or 4 cups of coffee a day. Decaf of course. Also my sinus problem is almost non existant now. Used to be horrible. Very painful.

I took early retirement back in 2006 BUT when I was working, I would come home from a really bad day when everything that could went wrong. My husband would fix me a glass of Arbor Mist to help me unwind and like alot of you have mentioned, within maybe 20 minutes I was really relaxed. It doesn't take much for me.
Now since I've gotten so into this quilting (my life), I never need any wine, never. Quilting is the most relaxing thing ever, except for my guitar  Oh! and by the way, I keep my cup of coffee ON my sewing table on the right hand side of my sewing machine right there with my radio/cd player, a clock and telephone. (I will let ya'll know when I make the big spill!) |
Always a cup o"tea handy. Have a protected spot near the right hand side of machine. Occasionally a glass of wine when hand quilting. To each her own.

I always have a glass of iced tea at the ready winter & summer, it is strong iced tea, none of that you can read through it stuff. LOL But that is as strong a drink as I care to have unless you count Barq's Root beer.
once in a while I will take a cup of coffee into my sewing room but it usually gets cold. I use the drink break to go see that my DH is doing ok, and get my coffee hot. then I am refreshed and go back to the quilt.
Yes I drink....a lot of water but keep it away from the sewing table on the desk next to it.
Pot of coffee in the a.m. to kickstart the brain...then a constant supply of large mugs of very strong white tea..I have a no drinking driving rule (includes sewing machine), but after 6.00pm a glass or two of wine and I work on my Grandmother's Garden (English Paper Piecing).
Same here! Add pop to that list also. (coffee, tea, water)
