I have a nine patch quilt made by my ggm. It was made in the late 20"s or early 30"s. It need a little patching on the binding but all in all it really held up well. It is not "used" here in our home, just for display.

SandyinZ4 - beautiful quilts. I wonder if the machine-sewn binding was added by someone else. I am in awe of her doing all of those points on that BIG quilt by hand.

I did it in my first quilt class/group back in the 80's in FL. The teacher (always wondered what happened to her) helped me pick the fabric for the sashings. I like the blue pin dot they are just uneven .

I really am loving see all the quilts people have inherited. They are just beautiful.
MGW. You are doing fine. I have a sister in law from Brazil and your post is like her emails so I understand just fine. :-)

The quilt was made from her own clothes. How awesome!

What an awsome story and what a special keepsake. It doesn't get any better than this craftybear!

I have a quilt my maternal grandmother made for me in high school (45 years ago). I remembering her asking me what colors I wanted in it. It is on our bed now.

We also use a quilt my husbands mother made when the children were young (+50 years ago). There are many shirt fabrics used. She hand-quilted a Baptist Fan design.

My grandmother embroidered a rose pattern on many blocks. I still need to hand quilt it and put together. (It qualifies as a true UFO).

I have a log cabin quilt that my grandmother made in the late 50's. It was made on a treadle machine and hand tied. It was used hard and needs repair. I have not quilted long enough to have the confidence to try to repair it. I have no idea where to start.

wish I was closer to ya an I could show you how to repair the quilt.I' done a repair job on two diffrent quilts one happen to be my brothers boughten comferter,an one was a rose quilt for my brother inlawon hubby's side had to blanket stitch about thirty roses.I felt onared to do it cause his mom had made it for him an I know she has been gone for ten or twelve yrs now.
It looked like she had just done it by the time I got through with it.
