I have a butterfly applique made by my paternal grandmother in the '30's. Two made by great grandmothers in the early 1900's( both sides of the family) and one made by possibly a great-great grandmother in the 1880's. My husband just cannot understand why I don't put them on display in the living room (which receives bright afternoon sunlight) I also have some woven, woolen coverlets made in the 1830's or 40's.

I also have a quilt top my granny made and would love to finish it, but don't have the confidence to finish such an old top.

I have 4 quilts that my grandmother made....2 were made at least 40 years ago for my sister and myself when we were children (drunkards path), one that was made for my parents at least 30 years ago and one made for me when I moved into my first house in 79 I think....they were all pieced by hand and quilted by hand on the frame in her living room by her, my great aunt, and my great uncle.

I have a quilt from my paternal grandmother. Her sister made it. I love it and treasure it.

Oh, so nice, and look at all the close ties she did looks like on every square, that took some time do do as well. Did she hand quilt it?

Sadly no. There were a few quilts made by my Great Grandmother, but my Aunts have them. I'm the only one who quilts in our family. My 1st quilt was a Grandma's Flower Garden, that I made because I wanted one that was like the one I remember playing on as a child. Those pathways made the best race tracks for match box cars. My GGM's quilt was made of feed sacks.
