Congratulations on winning 1st place. Don't take it to heart. Some people just don't like quilts. They don't see the beauty in them.. My children are some of those people. They are glad I have the quilting to keep me busy since they father died, but they are not into quilts.

Those who do not hand craft anything, whether it's quilting, painting, crafting, etc. have no idea of the time, effort, quality, or love that goes into something hand made.
It is their loss.
I would rather have anything hand made as opposed to something store-bought any day of the week.
And perhaps your quilt wasn't meant to go to that person since it would never be appreciated. I'm sure the right person won it and it was deeply appreciated and loved.

I hope she won the bottle of wine. It would have found a better home than the quilt.

sometimes people will just SETTLE for anything, when it comes to WINNING. They don't go for the BRASS RING, oopps-quilt!

maybe she was a quilter herself???? when I pay a dollar for a raffle ticket on a quilt, I rip it up. they have my dollar and I sure don't need to win a quilt. LOL See my point???

If she won the quilt, I'm sure the person winning the wine would have gladly traded with her. Anyone could buy a bottle of wine, but it is not easy to buy a beautiful, handmade quilt.

That's awful and funny at the same time! If she did win second prize I hope she enjoyed the wine, but think of having a great quilt for many, many years! I guess it's where your priorities lie.

I also took it as a joke. After reading the comments, if she was serious, I'll bet it's because she's a quilter too and probably doesn't know what to do with all her own quilts. And if that's not her reason, well then, her loss.

so sorry to hear that, they just didn't know a great thing when they saw it
