I made one for my DS and DDIL for Christmas. Turned out really nice and was quick and easy

We do this for table runners, never gave bed runners much thought before.
Anyone? |
Might say I am locking the door after the horse is stole. I had two quilts I was very proud of one made by my mother other Great Grand mother after she was 80. Wanted to show them off on guest beds, in the up stair. Not realizing that the sun was alway on the foot. The navy blue turned white. It could have been prevent with bed runner.

I want to make one! I even bought the fabric for it...now it's just waiting to finish other projects so I can start on it. I have a pretty taupe wholecloth quilt on the bed, just want to add a layer of color to it. I am also thinking of decorative bed pillows to match.

Great idea to use up blocks that never made it into a full size project.
Just add some borders, and quilt it. Since they are usually 24 - 30" tall you can easily machine quilt on any sewing machine. Love the idea of using decorative throw pillows to match. |
Does anyone know where I can find material with hawaiian little girls that would be big enough to cut out and appliqued on a quilt? Thanks for your help.

My Aunt June has been making bed runners for a long time but she puts hers over the pillows as a lay across pillow cover. She makes one to go with every bed quilt she makes :-D

Personally I like the large quilts. I like the looks of them and they add warmth in the winter. I really don't have a use for bed runners.

We just bought a book showing some popular patterns and are going to start working on them after the holidays. Our grandmother had them years ago and they were actually functional. They had an old two story farm house with a furnace. The second story didn't have heat except what came up from the downstairs. We used the bed runners to look nice during the day but at night we wrap them around our feet to help keep them warm.
