I love to quilt but my passion is cooking/baking. On a crisp fall day there is nothing like a pot of stew simmering a loaf of bread raising and sitting in a comfy chair hand quilting. That is paradise, well for me it is.

To me cooking is an act of love and the same thing goes for quilting. The meals I make are not only ingredents and the quilts I make are not just fabric. With each chop of a vegetable or cut of fabric ALL my love that goes into it.

I so agree with this. Cooking blahhhh whish my husband would take it over so that I would not have too.

I think we are to critical of ourselves. We are all flowers in a flower garden and each special, so are our quilts. After we have quilted for a while we get better but when you go back to your first quilt it will look more beautiful to you because of the things it taught you. Gail

Unless I eat somewhere fancy, I like my own cooking...now about the quilting...I like my fabrics, but a lot of the time I see things on here and just marvel at what ppl come up with.
You know, it is easy to do that, but when you think of how many members are active on this board, don't you expect to be wowed in a group this big?
that's what makes it fun. Everybody is doing something that looks a little different.
No matter how my stuff turns out...I don't want somebody else doing it though. Then I would miss out, big time!
I have the right to make a mess too! lol!

I agree with the cooking/quilting comparison. We tweak foods to our taste in order to enjoy it more and do the same with designs and quilting options. If your quilt is sprinkled with your our flavors you will enjoy it more.

Happy designing,
Andie

No, I don't like to cook, but I love to quilt. Well, it's not that I don't like to cook, it's just that since we retired we eat funny. Some days only one meal, some days a sandwich, depending on what we are doing. I do cook a large meal on Sundays.

absolutely...you start off with basic ingredients or fabric and as you get more advanced you are then able to spice it up and know what goes with what...I've been a chef for 15 years and now am getting back into quilting...so I'm back to basics
