What's a leader??
|
EVERY time!
Started doing this soon after I learned to sew, at age 10, and later added chain stitching (called "factory method" by my college Home Ec. teacher) when convenient to replace the leader with useful pieces. That was just a few...OK, quite a few...years ago. (Is Home Economics still taught anywhere nowadays? It's sure not in my area!) |

I always use a leader.

I have pieces cut from another quilt I am making where I have to sew on a corner (like the snowball block). Right now I'm making a scrappy star that also has to have corners put on.... I use those as my leaders and when I'm thru with one quilt, I also have part of another one done.

I use one especially when I am sewing points or making half square triangles. And I still pull my threads taut.
|
Always unless I'm paper piecing. I do have to lift the foot in between chain links when I'm chain piecing though.

I guess I'm lucky because I don't have to with my machine :D

An 'always' habit I have recently cultivated....and I am teaching my daughters the same
