Does anyone else love Jenny Doan?
I watch her on Youtube all the time and take many craftsy.com classes from her online shop. She is so cute and happy and really enjoys showing us all how to make a block a new and easier way. She has so many tips and tricks to making blocks. She makes complicated looking blocks easy to make. She has the gift. And she is always so thrilled to share with everyone. I just can't get enough of her. I buy from her shop all the time just because of seeing all that beautiful fabric on her Youtube videos (all the quilts hanging on the wall behind her). And she has a way of describing how fantastically cute the fabric she is using is and I just can't help but order it.
I wonder if people email her or stop by her shop and tell her about an easier way to make a block or a new block altogether or a new tip on quilting in general. She is an entertainer and a very good teacher. Sometimes, I'll just sit and watch her different videos on Youtube for an hour or longer. I just love that gal. She has to be making a killing in the quilting business...plus all the other craftsy classes she has at www.craftsy.com. And she's just a really nice person. I just wondered how many others of you feel the same way I do about her. |
Well - you've just introduced me to someone new!
Don't know if I like her or not yet. (smile) |
I like her...she seems like someone who would be fun to have as a friend. And she's encouraging in her teaching videos, makes things seem within your reach and skills. Did you see her recently on Fons and Porter?

I've seen her on You Tube and do like her.

She is my favorite teacher. I watch all of her videos. One of the first things I did when I started quilting was to sign up for her two Craftsy classes. Recently, I watched her video on "Tavern Blues" a Civil War quilt. Never, in a million years, would I have wanted to make that quilt; but after her enthusiasm, I ordered the kit. I am about half way through making the quilt. Although it has a zillion tiny pieces, after watching Jenny's instructions, making the blocks is so easy and so much fun. I play her video each time I start a new process on the quilt. I love, love, love Jenny Doan and have learned so much from her. I have made two of the easy quilts from her classes, "Alternating Squares" and "Jelly Cake". Although they were very simple, they look beautiful. The people at her on line shop are wonderful. They provided the fabric for "Bittersweet" a mystery quilt I am making. I was short 1/4 yard of one of the fabrics. When I e-mailed them, they quickly sent me 3/4 yard. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tell everyone how awesome I think Jenny Doan is.

No, I didn't see her on Fons and Porter. Where would I find her?
Our PBS station had a Fons and Porter show on in the past few weeks where she was the guest with Mary Fons. Don't know where you can find it. I love watching her video tutorials on her website, Missouri Star Quilt Company, or on You Tube. I haven't gotten into Craftsey, so haven't done any of her classes there. |
Don't know her or her site, but will check it out. Thanks!
She is a natural on video isn't she? Always happy and eager to share what she knows.

Just yesterday my quilting cousin Janet and I wrote to each other about yesterday's Missouri Quilt tutorial (magic squares). We discovered we both felt the same way about Jenny - like she was a friend, someone you'd like to hang out with. Janet joked that we should ask her to join our guild (in NJ!) LOL.

Yes, I watch her free videos on the missouri quilt co website - and of course I always check the daily deals. - She does have a nack for teaching and you can tell she is passionate and loves what she does. Wish I could visit the shop in person but I do a pretty good job online.

LOVE Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt and her you tube tutorials. Was on her MSQ "blog" a few minutes ago and read a post by her son that Jenny and her husband were in a serious auto accident this week. Fortunately they are OK, and the entire family is giving thanks that they were saved from the accident.
I feel the same way about Jenny that everyone else does. I learned so much from the Craftsy classes and love, love her videos. She seems like a friend and is so good at what she does.
I have a bunch of quilting buddies who are talking about planning a trip just so we can go to the store! We thought it would be an awesome girls road trip!
I think she is great, I sent a top into MSQC for backing and quilting and she called me to see how I wanted it quilted. I told her it was like talking to a movie star, she was great and my quilt was beautifully quilted. She didn't do the actual quilting but who ever did kept in touch with me about what I wanted and how it was progressing. I will use them again, very reasonably priced too. I would like to hang out with her too, she seems like a good friend.

Jenny is fabulous! She makes quilt pattern designs look effortless! I truly feel I can do any block she shows!!
Her classes are how I learned to quilt. I posted a pic on the craftsy site of my very first quilt top and she responded very quickly and was so kind. I just read about her accident. I'm glad she and her husband are ok. She seems to be a very nice woman, so energetic and supportive...you can just tell she's a great mom:)

Hi I am very much a newbie regarding quilting and it was whilst I was researching the art of quilting on the internet that I found the Missouri Star quilt company and all Jenny's tutorials. I have never looked back. She is made for teaching and as a lot of you have said "Her passion for quilting and fabrics shine through". Without her tutorials I don't think I would have actually started quilting as I found a lot of tutorials rather stiff and a lot of info left out.
Whereas Jenny adds loads of titbits to get you through. Thanks to Jenny I have now made 4 quilts and 6 Shopping bags as well as several Table runners. and I have plans to make two King sized quilts for Christmas presents. Thanks Jenny your humour and whole demeaner is made for teaching, if there was an OSCAR for teaching Jenny would get it hands down. What do you think girls. FOR SHE'S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW FOR SHE'S A JOLLY GOOD FELLOW. LOL. |
I love her too, I had watched some other on line videos but they just do not compare to Jenny, she makes it so easy to learn new things and she is so encouraging. She is the best and I also have ordered from the store several times and always had a wonderful experience.
She is a sweetheart isn't she! She is certainly a very talented teacher. I love watching her videos!
I also watch all her classes. She does make everything look fun and easy. When I saw her on Fons and Porter she was so
relaxed and just makes everyone have a great time. |
Yes, I like Jenny very much. I have learned some new ways to make blocks, usually an easier way than before. I have signed up to take a class thru Craftsy with Jenny.

Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Co.
Yes, I know and love Jenny Doan! I watch her tutorials on utube & from her website missouristarquiltco. I took two of her quilting videos on craftsy Quilting Quickly 1 & 11, I have learned alot from her, she is so down to earth kind of person, when she teaches her experiences and quilting techniques, she makes them look so easy to understand. She is one great quilting teacher, she makes me laugh sometimes too and I just never get tired to watch her tutorials! I come back to her lessons when I need to make a quilt. I have made alot of her quilts she taught, dresden plate, jelly roll stars, rag quilt just to name a few :) She has a great store from where I order from time to time and which I might add has a fast service!
YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES!!!
Love her - fantastic videos!! |
i 'm also a big fan of Jenny ,she,s the best in the quilting tutorial shows ,and because she,s a great gal i give her my business to support her shows and website keep them coming jenny, just heard of her accident glad to hear all is well
I know and love Jenny as well. I have not taken any of her Craftsy classes 'cause I can't afford it but I have followed-a-long in her you-tube and MSQC videos. My friend in Atlanta can't understand how I can make a quilt just from watching a video. She does NOT like MSQC. I can't wait to take a Craftsy class.
I agree with all of you. She teaches so easily and gives really good tips. I spend a lot of time watching her tutes.
I feel like she is my Aunt or close relative. I love her teaching methods and general happy nature. I bought Quilting Quickly 1 and 2 and have many quilts she shows on those lessons. I watch her on UTube and on missouriquiltco.com.
That girl is a super saleswoman hahahahahah
YES!!!!! I just ordered some jellyrolls from her company and plan to make the strip quilt from her instructions. She is so good at explaining and showing what she does. I am also planning to use her quilt-as-you-go method. Easy peasy!
I didn't start watching quilting tutorials on YouTube until recently, and I'm so glad that I discovered Jenny's tutorials first. Jenny is unfailingly enthusiastic and encouraging and makes me feel like I can do whatever she's showing. Tutorials from other teachers just seam so dull and boring in comparison.
I can only agree with all that has been posted! Great Teacher!
I, too, just love her teaching style. I just posted a picture recently of a quilt that I made using one of her templates & from 2 of her videos. "Deep in the heart of Texas". It's here on the board. The MSQC is moving into a new bldg soon..expanding. She's the best!
OMG I can't even remember how I stumbled upon here, but IMHO she is tops!!!! I, too, take all her classes through craftsy and watch her on youtube over and over. SHE IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!
She is like my favorite, I am a newbie and watch her videos over and over, she is a wonderful teacher and in my case my only teacher. I am thankful that she and her husband were not injured.
Yes I love Jenny Doan!! Love the tutorials, love the site! My sister and 3 other friends went to her shop one day and my sister had her picture taken with Jenny and keeps it on her cellphone. Jenny will be at our quilt guild meeting in Aug!!! My sister was on vacation in TX and in a quilt shop and the store owner was talking with my sis and showed her the binding tool and spoke of Jenny and the tutorial about it. Donna pulls out her phone and shows the lady the picture of Jenny and Donna. Small world. I also read about the accident she and her hubby were in and thank God they are OK. I plan to go see the new store when they get in there. Yea Jenny
she is a sweetie, I love her u tube videos, she explains everything so you can understand it.
I adore Jenny Doan and want to be just like her when I grow up (just kidding). I am a newbie and owe everything I owe or do to her tutorials. In fact, I am going to Missouri and visiting Missouri Star Quilting at the end of June, beginning of July!
Jenny Doan
She is a joy to watch. She feels like a friend.
Yea, I've watched several of her videos. She's a sweetie!
