I think it looks great.

I think it looks nice, remember she picked the fabrics and pattern out. I once made a quilt for a friend where she had stitched scraps together from her projects, sort of like a Chinese coin quilt, and insisted that I use read for the sashing and borders. Well, I did it, however, the whole time I was making it I kept chanting "Red is a neutral", something I'd heard a quilter say on Simply Quilts. My DS and DH thought it was great, but more importantly she loved the quilt and was quite proud, as she was 80 years old at the time.

This is just my personal taste but I don't particular care for the white if indeed it is white or just a blank space. I would try different shades of ecru or some other neutral color.

LOL, when I squint at the quilt I see two eyes looking back at me. The colors are nice, I like them, but together they are a dark/light contrast. Some medium values brought into the mix might be a helpful addition. (High contrast quilts are great but in this pattern, not so much?)

that is what I was thinking....besides that it is just perfect....I love modern.....

My only suggestion would be to separate the lightest tan fabric blocks and the busy print (black and tan beans?) blocks a bit so your eye travels over the quilt. My eye wants to stop and get stuck on those. Other than that -- and it's only a suggestion -- this looks like a great modern quilt to me. A young person should love it!

it works for me, too. that would be a quiet quilt for me! i'm all for brights and black.

It looks good to me.. Maybe it just isn't your style.. Sometimes I am critical because the pattern isn't something I like

I would do some minor rearranging of blocks if it were mine, but other than that I think it looks great. Try moving some of the blocks around a bit and see if that "feels" better to you.

Bind it,looks great...Move on.....

It looks great! Once you put a border around it, everything will calm down and blend. Please don't over think it!
