It is a great looking modern type quilt and with a dark border, I would call it done. She is sure to like it.

Thanks - update to come soon!!! Those 2 light blocks just happened to be the ones I started with. Once all the blocks are done the will be more spread out. :)

There are as many opinions as quilters out there. I would ask your friend to come in for one last look before assembly. If that's the way she wants it, who are we to judge and make change suggestions? I hope I'm not sounding negative here. It is certainly not my intent. But even though you personally don't prefer the way she's chosen her lay-out, it's still her choice. And as many have pointed out, it is a modern style look to this quilt.....not necessarily everyone's preference. As long as your friend approves the final lay-out, I'd just go with it. I hope this makes the completion easier on your conscience. I've been in the same boat, but have to force myself not to overthink another's choices. I like it, a lot! If your client chose the fabrics and pattern, then she will love it. I do understand your frustration, however, on being told which fabrics and pattern to use. Kinda feels like having your creativity hog-tied.

The pattern is really nice - and your work is lovely! I personally would break up the blocks that you have the same color side by side. mix your lights and darks into a broader non-discript design. (just my opinion)

It looks great bind it in black and it will make a very modern quilt.

Move the blond blocks to a different location. Maybe offset them instead of having them on top of each other.

Is this the entire quilt? It looks pretty narrow for the other dimension. I agree with others who find stops and starts in eye motion. Decide whether the black and white high contrast or lightest beige catches you eye most and use those blocks to move your eye down the vertically held quilt from upper left across to the right 1/3 or 2/3 point and then back to the middle of the side opposite the start. This would move your eye through the quilt top. The technique is one taught to me by June Yeager at a class in Sisters, OR.
