In the quilt world, she is an absolute jewel. Her books are so easy to follow and her patterns and methods of construction are just the best. Her addition of oddments of history and her own family history make wonderful reading and make you feel like you have known her forever and she is your friend. Even the addition of recipes are great. I have made her lemon/raisin scones several times.

Me, three! When I first saw her show, I laughed at her throwing fabric over her shoulder.......now I watch it every chance I get! (And my DH knows not to interrupt me while watching her)

I learned to quilt from her tv shows. I have several books.
She and Kaye Woods are still my favorites.

In spite of the sugary style, Eleanor Burns conveys an appreciation for the rural women in our heritage. She is genuine in her admiration for her ancestors, and the information she shares makes me reflect on the gifts and talents of the women in my family who have gone before me.

When I quilt, I feel connected to my grandmothers, and Eleanor Burns promotes that feeling. The only thing that makes me feel more connected than quilting is carrying water (literally, not figuratively).

I met her 2 weeks ago at a quilt show in Lincoln, NE while visiting there. She is as nice in person as on her shows. I chatted with her for a few minutes and she was giving out tote bags and was signing them so I got one of those. She has eyes that seem to be always smiling. She indulged in picture taking with some of the people who stopped by her booth.

I was fortunate enough to take a class in Paducah that she taught and it was fabulous. She is so down to earth and what a sense of humor. She had us laughing constantly while learning great quilting techniques. I DVR her shows and enjoy the background information she gives on the quilts. It really helps you feel connected to older family quilters. I love that her books give the information for any size you want to make.
