I use just about everything except Madera. My machine doesn't like it for some reason. My primary thread is Isacord but I've used lesser expensive embroidery thread, polyester serger thread, coats and clark, metallic, cotton, and about every other name brand thread you can think of, embroidery and non embroidery.

I hear a lot about Floriani, it's very expensive, but the color result is stunning. I finally bought some to try but haven't yet.

I got a recommendation for thread from a master embroiderer who orders online and does awesome projects but discovered the thread could not be washed, the item had to be dry cleaned or, depending on the medium, required special cleaning. I'd never run into that before so it's something to watch out for. If I can't throw it in the washing machine, it's not worth it to me.

I use Exquisite thread, similar to Isacord but more affordable. Exquisite was formerly sold as Poly-X brand.

I have a Brother 2500D and it isn't picky at all about what it sews. I like the look of rayon best, but when I realized that I was needing about 100 different colors and then every time I picked out a new design I still didn't have exactly the color that I wanted, I started getting mine from a dealer in the UK who is selling thread made in Pakistan. When I have purchased every color the dealer carries I don't know who I will buy from next, but I can't afford the prices of many of the brands in our stores with the number of colors I want. I can't tell when my designs are finished which colors are from Pakistan and which colors I paid $8 a spool for.

I am trying to use up all the Brother thread that came with my machine (a few years ago) and Ihate that thread. I also do not like the Gutterman nor the Maderia thread.
By far my favorite, for all Machine Embroidery Applications, is the Sulky. Both my Pfaff and Brother love it. Little lint, less thread breaks and all over a good, steady thread.

Thanks guys,

it's really good to have all the different opinions.... I have never veered away from Maderia and I just thought it would be good to try something different!

Hugs
