LQS=Local Quilt Shop

Yepper, I was at a LQS and was looking at Moda Flannel 11.59 a yard, sure didn't want it that bad. Really makes it hard to sell anything and make any $$ when your profits are in buying the material.

In Australia most of our LQS sell fabric all the time for up to $30 per metre.

My LQS charges $8.35/yd and if you belong to a guild, and tell her, you get 15 pct off. If anyone wants to order from her, please PM me as I am not sure I can advertise on here. She has a website that they are working on but she can be called and will take an order over the phone.

She is fairly new (about 2 years) and is a lovely accommodating lady. She will also order any rulers, notions, etc. that you might need.

I think everything is 15 pct except books and magazines.

I used to work in the fabric department at the local Walmart and got in on all the good deals. Got to see the new 'stuff' before it was put out on the floor. When the department got closed I thougt that was a good time to retire. Now with all the prices going up so much I really can't afford to get to much fabric any more. Even the local fabric store here in town closed, so have to go to a little place in OKC, but haven't been able to get there for a while. I think when Walmart closed most of their fabric departments its caused the prices to jump, because of their bulk buying and keeping most of the prices down. That's my thoughts, anyone else have an idea?

Quilters Warehouse will have a Cyber Monday sale this Monday with 20% off all orders over $20!!! Thats a good time to grab what you can before they have to hike their prices!

You should shop @ Joann's online. I would think they would ship internationally! Good luck!! If they won't maybe one of us that has one near by could pick you something up that u see online and send it to you!????

The cause of the increase in prices is the price of commodities in general. It may be that we will need to consider using cotton polyester blends, although that might not be much help if the price of oil rises rapidly.

I have also heard that after Thanksgiving rolls of batting with cotton will be going up about 20.00 a roll.

The higher prices will certainly cut into my purchases of fabric that much more. I heard from an employee in our local Walmart and they will soon be making some intensive changes to their crafts department and will more than likely be closing out their fabric departmenht. I recently started a project for a friend and needed something in the mauve shades. I went to our LQS and she still had that color left over from the mauve and blue craze period. But you know what! The price was up to date. I'm certain the prices weren't just under $9.00 per yard when that color was popular. Needless to say I was somewhat ticked to pay that for old fabric but what to you do when you need a certain color! The gals in the LQS are delightful so you pay and you go! I'm glad I like scrap quilts as I still have scraps. Happy Thanksgiving, ya'll!
