Me too, Dottie, I will use all my tiny scraps. Hard to pay over $11.00 a yard even if I LOVE the fabric!

I have such an addiction to buying fabic, guess I've just found a cure for it, THE PRICE !!!!!!

I've been noticing that our Wal-Mart fabric prices have jumped considerably over the past few months. What used to be about $2.50/yard fabric has doubled plus in price now for the identical fabric!!! Hard to find a Wal-Mart fabric deal now.

I think that just means more sales & discounts down the road, cause how many of us can really afford those prices. I mainly buy fqs, but it's still sad to see even fabric going up more. I use to sew for DH & I, alot, but mainly quilt now, as it's cheaper to buy readmade clothes, & that's sad too!..

Does anyone else have an amish fabric store by them? Ours is about 13 miles away, carries Thimbleberries, Moda etc at 3.99 to 4.99 a yard. However these are the older collections, but beautiful all the same.

wow glad I planned ahead haha

Our LQS quit ordering one line of fabric bc she couldn't afford it. Glad I have a very large stash. Batting may be another problem. Guess I need to stock up on batting.

How lucky are you, in Australia the same fabric you pay $12.00 for we have to pay $28.00 to $30.00 for, hence the fabric traffic between the US and Australia is really busy, I am on first name terms with all of the postmen as I buy all fabric for our little craft group from the US, my neighbours must wonder what all the strange parcels are I keep getting delivered, hope the drug squad does not do a raid, I"ll just show them my quilts if they do.
If the order is no more than nine yards in total the postage is very reasonable. Regards Carol |
I love Connecting Threads fabrics. They're just beautiful to work with, and the prices always seem reasonable.
I try to shop on sale as much as possible, and whenever I go into any store I ask for a Teacher and/or Military discount, since my mom is a Coastie and I'm in the Auxiliary. Most places are accommodating for Teachers and service people. |
There is a world wide shortage of cotton due to droughts in China and floods in Pakistan. Good reason to buy cotton fabrics and clothing quickly before prices get worse, but I think I will try my hand at scrap quilts as I'm trying to become a minimalist and use up my stash.
