I just brought 6 fat quarters from the JoAnn's Rustling Leaves Collection. The size stated is 18" x 21". I thought a fat quarter was 18" x 22". I am unhappy with the the size, but I am frustrated with the fact that all 6 fat quarters were cut so crooked, that I had to cut 2" off each one in order to use them.
Should I say something to the store manager at JoAnn's about this? Crooked fabric cost money and less fabric to use. Mary/stitchengramie |
yep, say something, maybe they'll make it right

Absolutly you should say something. The employees cut those and their job is not being done correctly and the consumer is being ripped off ! Worse when you get home you don't have enough of the fabric for what you were going to use it for !

Yes I would say something.

I'd speak to the manager about the short FQ's. The manager should pass the info along to HQ and should give you at least a free FQ for your trouble.
I think the 18 X 22 size for FQ's is no longer true as yardage isn't 44 -45" wide as it used to be, we're lucky to get 40" today. |
I would start opening them up at the store. If they ask why, tell them.
|
i would definitely say something to management. if they don't know that there is a problem, they can't fix it. then they get more dissatisfied customers.

I have had the same thing with buying fats at J's. It's frustrating cause they not really qtrs. I was angry, too but J's is 20 miles from here and I didn't want to go back there to complain. Nxt time I was there I forgot to mention it. Good idea to open them up before you buy.

I would but good luck. My local group of quilters has had this issue MANY times. We also recently bought jelly rolls that were so frayed when opened they were unusable. 2 of the rolls had 30 strips instead of 42. Their fat quarters are not worth the money. We have spoken to manager who said not much he can do they don't make them at his store they come that way. We can return them if unopened but Joann's is 31 miles each way so we just throw in scrap basket. I do not buy from them anymore except batting. Batiks last month were $12.99 and my LQS they are $10.99.
Remember if you buy from the smaller shops it helps keep them in business. |
I'd say something. What do you have to lose?
