Has anyone else purchased this tool? Do you like it? Does anyone have the other similar products from Sew Easy and Havels? Does this sound like a similar challenge...?

Any feedback is appreciated as I will give it a chance but want to be sure it is just me and not the tool.

thanks

My experience with Fiskars is that they are not the best - do not cut well even with new blades……I do not like their mat either (personal preference I guess)

I love mine. One time I put a harbor freight blade in it and it wouldn't cut worth a darn all of a sudden. Swapped it out for a fiskars brand blade and it was perfect. The harbor freight blades I got didn't work well in my regular rotary cutter either.

Agree some here are getting this confused with a cutting mat. This is a 24 inch ruler with a cutter attached. I have the older one and I lLOVE it. As others said, if you are cutting on a table that has a warp or wave, this won't work. You need a flat solid table or counter underneath. I don't do more than four layers of fabric. I really like it for long cuts.

You should be able to return it. If after I buy something and end up not liking it I always take it back. Sometime it is after store policy to return for money but I have always gotten store credit.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago at Hancock fabrics, I like it - mine works very good.

I have the Havel's , I like it, but it has to have a level firm table to cut well. On my usual cutting table 3'X5', I can cut lenght wise, but not cross wise there is a very slight dip in the molded table that direction.

Really? I will only use Fiskars brand rotary cutters and cutting mats and have for at least 20 yrs.

I just got the "Sew Easy" brand version, so too new to give a thorough review yet, but so far I'm very excited about it. I've only tried cutting through one layer of fabric folded in half, but that is all I ever do when cutting long strips. (I used to have to fold in quarters because I couldn't keep any other long ruler from slipping but this worked well! I kept my other hand pressed on the ruler side) Also the Sew Easy brand is only 4-1/2" (vs. 6") wide so maybe that is working to my advantage? They are all the same length and the rotary blade stops 1-1/2" in from each end so you end up with 24" of cutting area.

To each his own is so true, because I love Fiskar's products in general so I'm sure I'll be refilling with their blades. (I wasn't aware they made one too.) Furthermore, I previously purchased and returned the "Slidelock" as mentioned above (not a ruler, but designed to hold and lock fabric down in place, while you cut with a regular rotary blade but it didn't work for me, kept sliding) I was very disappointed in it while others love it and rave about it here on the board.
