She also said that I should always use a scant 1/4 inch seam on all my piecing, that she gave this tip to all her students. And that the pros were always in the habit of doing this for acurate piecing. Kind of maddening huh? When you buy a 1/4 inch foot, why don't they just make it scant 1/4 inch?? Ha ha ha .... Oh well the rant is over girls. Sorry ..... ...I have wondered the very same thing! Is it just me...I just discovered last night that when I am replying, If I can't remember somebody's name or whatever, I can scroll further down this page and see the posts! what a help for my sometimes foggy brain. I just love this place, so many 'helps' for someone who NEEDS it, lol! :D P.S. ...yeah, lol, rose marie, what is eleanor burns way of doing flying geese? can u point a direction or book, please? |

A tip a quilt teacher taught me was start on the line a few stitches then gradualy go in towards the point and then when you get close to the end do the same.

Any book by her should have the instructions in it if flying geese are used.
I use her flying geese rulers and they come with instructions. You can do them without the rulers but it is easier with them. The basic of them is you cut two squares one is 1 1/2 inches bigger than the other. Take the lenght of the goose you want and add 1 1/2 inchs then add another 1 1/2 inches for the second sq. Center the small sq on top of the large one with right sides facing each other. Draw a line just like you do for a HST and sew down each side. Cut on line. Then you layer right sides facing outer edges matching and draw a line again. Cut. Now you use the ruler to cut out 4 flying geese. They come out perfect. You have to see it done to really understand and see how simple it is. |
Speakers are very inexpensive at the best buy store. Just make sure you take the model and make of your computer with you to talk to the person in that department to get the right one.

I got my computer whiz brother to look and he said, nope...this pc is el cheapo and no place to put them. :shock: you really do get what you pay for, so ppl if your 'puter tears up, don't let the company talk you into get another, 'no frills' pc over the phone. :!: |
Are you using a scant 1/4" seam? Maybe you need to cut your rectangles 5 1/4" or 5 1/2" long.
I know it took me a few tries getting things to work out when I started doing triangles. |
