in my opinion, this person should have contacted you regarding the folds.... this is a common practice for long arm quilters when working, they cannot be expected to correct your mistakes, but... it is your hard work...
I learned a whole lot about squaring up my quilt when I went to a local shop and quilted my own quilt on a longarm... my final border had to be fixed... and they wanted to me to put a fold in the border... I actually was able to manipulate the fabric as it was quilted and it came out fine. But... it was an invaluable learning experience for me as a new quilter... lol

I would have loved to have known before she quilted it but she said it was already loaded on the machine and she didn't get the waves until she got to the bottom.

thanks for all the suggestions I think I will try slip stitching , washing and applique if I still need to.

should you square the quilt top before you give to LAQ? or is the method of measuring through the center enough? I do that. not sure what happened with this one.

I give my customers a checklist for their quilts before they give them to me to longarm quilt, and yes, the quilt should be squared up before I get it, as should the batting and backing.

My long armer has tried to fix many a crease in my quilts. If they are too bad, she calls me and has me take the border off and put it on again. But most of the time, no one will notice them, especially after they are washed. froggyintexas

Yes, the LAQ should have called you when she saw the problem, even if it was already loaded on the frame. But, on the other hand she can only work with what you give her. Really important to measure borders correctly and square up the entire quilt top before you take it to the LAQ. Sometimes easier said than done, that's for sure!! :)

I think most people probably do.

I tend to make B-I-I-I-I-I-G quilts, so I like to quilt the center then put the borders on, including the backing and batting.

That's a LOT of extra fabric that you're not having to deal with when you're quilting in the middle of your quilt. It's a little extra work at the end, but it saves a lot of aching shoulder work when you're quilting the first half. :)

The way I do it, too. But I can't take credit; when making my first quilt, I read that this is how to apply borders.
