Here's my solution: I bought a large wooden cutting board from a camper store, so it has that waffle look shelf liner glued to the back. That goes on the floor, of course. I nailed two small brads about 4" apart where I want the front of the pedal to be and put a pencil between them as a barrier. The pedal stays there. Sorry....I do not know how to post pictures.

I will go out today and but some of that shelf non skid stuff......and I won't pretty it up with binding...good point about that weakening the staying power.......happy new year!

Mine scooted all the time I have a bookcase close by, I used a small block of wood to place it where I wanted it up against the bookcase and now it can not go anywhere!

The liner quality makes the difference. The thin flimsy plastic stuff won't work. I have smooth ceramic tile in my sewing room. I use the thick liner under my pedal and it works fine.

I use a piece of that rubbery stuff they sell for shelf liners. It is about the size of a sheet of paper, and works well on a wood floor. It also nicely fits into my sewing machine case, wrapped around the foot pedal so it doesn't rattle. Don't know why you'd need to bind it, just make it large enough to catch the pedal if it does try to move.

I just put some cushion pads that have sticky back on my foot pedal put one on all the 4 corners and it has been working out good. I have tried the shelf liner and that did not work for me.

While this may not help you, my problem foot pedal was solved by something entirely different.
Mine insisted on scooting across a carpet -nothing worked - until I found a set of peel and stick "teeth" - those little squares that are meant to stop furniture from sinking into carpet - they're about 2 inches square. I put two squares on the bottom of my foot pedal and no more wander - inexpensive too as I bought 8 for $3. I gave a set of 2 to my friend and kept the others for my other sewing machine foot pedal once I get around to putting them on. And I have a spare set.

I purchased 2 mouse pads from the dollar store and glued the tops together. The sticky foam undersides keep the pad in place on the carpet, and the pedal in place on the pad.

I saw some silicon hot pads at the 99cent store the other day, should have grabbed one, I bet it would keep the pedal from scooting around, they were textured on front and back and silicon is naturally on the sticky side.
